Kanzashi-ya Wargo, a specialty store for handmade kanzashi (Japanese hair ornaments) that blends traditional craftsmanship with contemporary design, has launched a new piece called the Kiwataridori Ippon Kanzashi. The ornament went on sale on February 27 at Kanzashi-ya Wargo stores and via the EC site "The Ichi (座市)."
The design draws on the image of a migratory bird soaring through a vast forest on its way to the next destination. A swallow with spread wings inside a hoop represents freedom, while a chain of wooden beads evokes the depths of the forest and glossy round beads suggest the gifts of nature found during the journey.
The combination of wood and metal gives the piece both natural strength and delicacy. It sways lightly with every step, evoking the feeling of moving with the wind. Despite its long, eye-catching silhouette, the warmth of the wood keeps it versatile — wearable with casual everyday outfits and distinctive Japanese attire alike.
The Kiwataridori Ippon Kanzashi is available in five color variations.
Kiwataridori Ippon Kanzashi - Peach (桃)

Kiwataridori Ippon Kanzashi - Red (赤)

Kiwataridori Ippon Kanzashi - White (白)

Kiwataridori Ippon Kanzashi - Blue (青)

Kiwataridori Ippon Kanzashi - Green (緑)
