Kimono Fukubukuro is the brand's flagship washable women's kimono line. To mark the release, a limited-time 20% off coupon for use on the series will be distributed in limited quantity.

What Is Kimono Fukubukuro?
An Everyday Kimono Worn Like a One-Piece Dress
Wearing season: fall to spring
Kimono Fukubukuro is a line of original casual kimono that the brand's design staff and a Kyoto pattern-design studio have worked on together for more than 15 years, designing and producing each piece with care. Supported by many fans every year, it has become the flagship series of the KIMONOMACHI brand. Haori jackets are made in the same designs as the kimono.
Kimono are generally associated with special occasions such as coming-of-age ceremonies and weddings. The Kimono Fukubukuro series instead suggests a lifestyle in which kimono can be enjoyed as easily as a one-piece dress, for everyday outings such as a trip to a cafe or shopping.
A Wide Size Range, Home Washability, and Reasonable Prices
Unusual for a kimono brand, Kimono Fukubukuro comes in a wide range of sizes: S, M, L, LL, 3L, and 4L, making it easier to choose according to height and build. To address common concerns such as "kimono are hard to handle" and "I'm worried about stains," the kimono are made of polyester that can be washed at home. At a reasonable price, they can be worn like regular clothing or a yukata.
Coordinated Sets for Beginners
The "First Kimono" (はじめてのきもの) set, which includes the kimono coordinate, dressing accessories, and zori sandals, is also popular with kimono beginners.
Many beginners think, "I'd like to try wearing a kimono, but I don't know which obi to match," or "I'm worried that a combination I pick myself might look off." About the Fall/Winter 2026 Designs
This year's Kimono Fukubukuro collection has 12 designs in total. Four new patterns are each offered in two colorways, making eight new designs: "Cranes, Floral Crests, and Twisted Cherry Blossoms" (鶴に花紋、ねじ桜), "Wabisuke Camellia" (侘助椿), "Botanical Bouquet" (ボタニカルブーケ), and "Hummingbird with Garland" (ハチドリにガーランド). Two revived patterns from past collections, "Arabesque" (アラベスク) and "Arabesque with Nandina" (アラベスクに南天), are each offered in two colorways, making four more.
The lineup inherits popular styles from the designs Kimonomachi has created so far, including classical patterns, flowering branches, small-flower patterns, and copperplate-print-style designs. The motifs were gathered from staff members' picks, such as "this is what I love" and "what I want right now," and draw on everything from recent trends to classical patterns. Because the series is known for its wide size range, the size of the patterns and the balance of empty space were also considered so that the designs look good in every size.
New Designs
Cranes, Floral Crests, and Twisted Cherry Blossoms (鶴に花紋、ねじ桜)
Design theme: The 2026 edition of the classical floral-crest series that the Kyoto kimono shop wants to keep making. Cranes, floral crests, and twisted cherry blossoms are combined, redoing the classics in Kimonomachi's signature colors.
Highlights: The placement and size of the motifs were adjusted many times, leaving space to create a soft impression. The soft color scheme, with a touch of ash tones, feels modern.
Suggested coordination and occasions: New Year outings and strolls through old capital towns and other Japanese-style settings. The nishaku-sode also looks great with the hakama style for graduation ceremonies.
Comment from the design staff: A best-of-both-worlds piece that combines an antique-style pattern typical of kimono with the casual ease that only polyester offers.
Cranes, Floral Crests, and Twisted Cherry Blossoms: Beige
A pale greige broken shippo (interlocking circles) pattern on a light beige ground. Over it are floral crests filled with auspicious motifs, such as twisted cherry blossoms, peonies, plum blossoms, and chrysanthemums, along with cranes with outstretched wings and braided cords that add movement. A color scheme of white with deep red and rusty vermilion, and pale yellow with rusty gray, gives traditional beauty a modern look. The lining is gray.

A beige-pink broken shippo pattern on a grayish pale pink ground. Over it are floral crests filled with auspicious motifs, such as twisted cherry blossoms, peonies, plum blossoms, and chrysanthemums, along with cranes with outstretched wings and braided cords that add movement. Muted pink and rusty gray, combined with deep red, white, and black, give the gentle, modern colors a crisp look. The lining is gray.
Wabisuke Camellia (侘助椿)
Design theme: Modeled on Wabisuke, a camellia variety favored by tea masters. It is a Japanese-style design with an understated beauty.
Highlights: The single-petaled flower shape typical of Wabisuke, along with soft, hand-painted-style shading that draws on the feel of an antique haori owned by a staff member. The ground colors (dark navy and black) were chosen to bring out the camellia's elegance.
Suggested coordination and occasions: New Year outings, tea ceremony experiences, shrine and temple visits, and other occasions when you want to dress elegantly. It also works as an image coordinate for works in which the name or motif "Wabisuke" appears.
Comment from the design staff: This is the top pick of a staff member who loves camellias. Camellia designs are commonly large, plump flowers, but this kimono pursues the true character of Wabisuke, making it a camellia kimono with a different flavor.
Wabisuke Camellia: Dark Navy
Camellia flowers inspired by Wabisuke on an ink-tinged deep navy ground. A deep red flower and a white flower with beige shading, with light indigo silhouettes adding depth. Leaves in black and ecru with gray gradation create a quiet Japanese atmosphere. The lining is deep red.

Highlights: A design filled with flowers, including an originally drawn small-flower arabesque, baby's breath silhouettes, and bouquets of roses and baby's breath. The color scheme that gently ties them all together is a standout.
Suggested coordination and occasions: It looks stylish with an accent color, and equally cool when pulled together in monotone. Suited to shopping, tea, meals, and other days when you want to enjoy a gentle, festive mood that isn't formal.

Botanical Bouquet: Blue Gray
A small-flower arabesque in dark khaki spreads across an iron-navy ground with a greenish cast. A bouquet of roses in off-white, pale blue-gray, and gray is accompanied by baby's breath silhouettes in off-white and black. The calm color scheme still makes a striking impression. The lining is beige.
Botanical Bouquet: Pink
A small-flower arabesque in pale gray spreads across a slightly bluish gray ground. A bouquet of roses in white, pale rose pink, and muted pink is accompanied by baby's breath silhouettes in white and ink black. The gentle color scheme conveys a grown-up kind of cuteness. The lining is beige pink.
Hummingbird with Garland (ハチドリにガーランド)
Design theme: Western-style flowers and birds rendered with the delicate touch of a copperplate engraving. It has a fantastical world like an illustration from a Western tale of wonders.
Highlights: An original pattern in which imaginary flowering branches are entwined with accessories such as pearls, while hummingbirds fly about. The designer's favorite is the meticulous detail, down to the stippling on each individual pearl. The accent color on the hummingbird's throat is also effective.

A Rikyu-green (grayish green) arabesque pattern on a brown ground with a yellow-green tint, with white nandina over it. Ivory berries, grayish yellow-green branches and leaves, and matcha-green gradation create a sense of depth. It is a design that blends the charms of both Japanese and exotic styles. The lining is beige.
