The fourth series in the collaboration between Wamonoya Kaya and KIMONO artist Tamao Shigemune is set to go on sale in early October 2026. Wamonoya Kaya is a Japanese goods brand from Amina Collection Co., Ltd. (Headquarters: Yokohama, Kanagawa) that aims to recreate and share Japan's DNA. The collaboration produces wa-yo clothing (Japanese-Western style clothing) and fashion accessories, available at Wamonoya Kaya's directly operated stores nationwide and on its official online shop.

A New Style of Wa-Yo Clothing and Fashion
Wamonoya Kaya is a brand that brings traditions and culture from across Japan, along with customs that let people feel the four seasons, into modern lifestyles through Japanese goods, Japanese-style fashion, and cultural experiences.
The collaboration pairs Wamonoya Kaya's Japanese-style garments, which can be worn as easily as Western clothing, with textile designs by kimono designer Tamao Shigemune, creating a new take on wa-yo clothing and fashion.
Shigemune's themes of "life and death" and "light and darkness" are worked into items such as wa-yo clothing and gamaguchi clasp purses. Through the magic of textiles, the collection invites wearers to experience scenery they have never seen before.

A souvenir jacket with bold embroidery. It comes in two patterns, "Boundary Line" and "Maneki-neko (Beckoning Cat)," and each can be worn reversed.

The Modern Kimono Haori has a silhouette much like a kimono. The Modern Kimono Dress can be paired with an obi belt for a look closer to traditional Japanese dress.

Gamaguchi Clasp Purses and Reversible Obi Belts
The gamaguchi purses have a different pattern on the front and back. The obi belts add a touch of Japanese style simply by wrapping and tying. Both are designed to serve as an accent to an outfit.

KIMONO and Object Artist Tamao Shigemune
Tamao Shigemune was born in Yamaguchi Prefecture and lives in Tokyo, and completed the textile design course at Tama Art University. While still a student, Shigemune became captivated by vintage kimono from the Taisho era to the early Showa era, and began wearing kimono while also starting to make kimono and yukata.
Shigemune began by making pieces mainly with the yuzen dyeing technique, then took up dyeing with inkjet printing, which allows for detailed expression. Working with artisans, Shigemune creates kimono and obi based on hand-drawn sketches that are converted to digital form.
In recent years, Shigemune has gone beyond making textile items such as kimono, obi, and Western clothing to also handle brand management, visual photography, fashion show direction, kimono styling, and prop styling.
