Yokohama-based confectionery maker Ariake is releasing a new seasonal product, "Kurofune Harbor Perry's Lemonade" (黒船ハーバー ペリーのれもねーど), starting April 1, 2026.

Inspired by History
According to the Yokosuka Tourism Association and Yokosuka Keizai Shimbun, when Commodore Perry's Black Ships arrived at Uraga in 1853 during Japan's late Edo period, carbonated lemonade was among the supplies on board. This "original lemonade" served as the inspiration for this new confection.
About the Product
The filling combines lemon juice and lemon flesh into a special lemon paste, layered with the refreshing scent of lemon thyme and the gentle sweetness of honey. The result is a well-balanced blend of tartness and sweetness, wrapped in a moist cocoa dough reminiscent of the Black Ships — making it a fitting treat for early summer.
