Kyoto Botanical Gardens, Japan's Oldest Public Botanical Garden, Hosts Night Event NIGHT GARDEN of Autumn Colors From November 14

Kyoto Botanical Gardens (京都府立植物園), Japan's oldest public botanical garden, will hold the night event NIGHT GARDEN of Autumn Colors (秋のナイトガーデン), subtitled Autumn Leaves and Lights Walking Path (紅葉と灯りの散歩道), from Saturday, November 14 to Sunday, December 13, 2026. The event aims to create a night-time economy for the garden, bring new attractions of the garden to visitors, and once again highlight the appeal of viewing plants, including autumn leaves.

In addition to the autumn leaves illumination inside the garden, the event features an immersive experience using sound, night stalls, and a night walk in which visitors stroll through the garden carrying a handheld lantern. On Saturdays, Sundays, and holidays, the viewing greenhouse (観覧温室) is also open at night. Making use of the scale of the garden, whose total area is 240,000 m², the event is a comprehensive one that can be enjoyed in many ways.

The event is organized by Kyoto Mirai Green Partners (京都みらいグリーンパートナーズ), a joint venture that has been entrusted by Kyoto Prefecture with the facility management and operation of the garden since July 2026.
