Starting August 1, 2026 (Saturday), Maihama View Hotel by HULIC (located in Urayasu, Chiba Prefecture) will open an all-weather kids' park called "Umière" exclusively for hotel guests on a summer-limited basis. The park is housed in a standalone building directly connected to the hotel.
Concept: Where the Sea (Umi) and Light (Lumière) Converge
The name "Umière" is a blend of the Japanese word for "sea" (umi) and the French word for "light" (lumière), inspired by the rich coastal scenery of Maihama and the sunlight that bathes it. With ceilings soaring over 10 meters high, this airy standalone space offers a luminous playground where children's creativity and imagination can flourish. With the sky and sea as a backdrop, the park aims to deliver a one-of-a-kind summer memory for families staying at the hotel.
Three Experience Zones at Umière
Umière is divided into three zones designed to stimulate children's movement, creativity, and calm — offering high-quality play experiences. The selection includes large play equipment making its Japan debut that has cleared rigorous safety standards, as well as internationally award-winning educational toys sourced from top brands around the world. The zones cater to every stage of childhood, from infants to active elementary-school-aged children.
Active Area: Jump Toward the Horizon
The Active Area features the latest version of the "Air Track Park" from Dutch manufacturer Airgym, marking its Japan debut. This attraction combines an air trampoline with soft parkour equipment, letting children engage their whole bodies while taking in a panoramic ocean view stretching out before them.
Atelier Area: Give Shape to Free Ideas
The Atelier Area is dedicated to hands-on, imaginative play. The zone features a curated selection of creative toys from leading European brands — including wooden construction toys that nurture an engineering mindset, silicon-and-wood balance art pieces for free-form sculpting, and magnetic building toys for learning about structures.
Baby Area: A Warm and Safe First Experience
The Baby Area welcomes guests from birth, featuring the Japanese debut of a bio-material toy series from UK brand Tolo. Softly shaped toys with gentle textures are accompanied by world-class children's furniture from German brand Beka, plus a warm wooden role-play kitchen corner designed to gently nurture social development in young children.
The standalone building with the best views in the hotel was chosen as the home for this play space, with the aim that guests can create precious memories even within the hotel itself. As an all-weather facility, Umière serves as an oasis where families can unwind and enjoy the blue sea view regardless of sudden rain.
