A limited-time café from Paris-based boulangerie-pâtisserie Maison Landemaine is set to open at "Machiai," a community exchange hub inside Takanawa Gateway City. The café will run from May 9 (Saturday) to August 20 (Thursday), 2026.

About the Venue: Machiai at Takanawa Gateway City
Machiai is a newly established space within Takanawa Gateway City designed to connect people with each other and with the surrounding neighborhood. Maison Landemaine brings its tradition of artisan baking and handcrafted pastry to this vibrant hub, offering a special food experience to complement everyday life.
Machiai-Exclusive Menu Items
Two items are available only at this location.
Financier Soft (¥648): A financier baked with fragrant French AOP-certified fermented butter, layered with rich soft-serve ice cream and house-made caramel sauce. The deep aroma of browned butter and the richness of honey make for a decadent bite.

Cream Melon Soda (¥650): Made using syrup from 1883 Maison Routin, a French Alpine brand founded in 1883. The syrup is crafted from natural Alpine water and 100% cane sugar, delivering a clear, layered sweetness with an elegant aroma—a grown-up soda experience.

Popular Item: Caneleine — A New-Texture Canelé
The Caneleine is Maison Landemaine's reimagined take on the classic French canelé, and won the top Grand Prix award at the Japan Food Selection in January 2024.
- Butter instead of beeswax: Traditional canelés use beeswax for the mold coating; this version uses butter instead, resulting in a crispy exterior and chewy interior that's accessible for all ages.
- Light flour for delicate texture: Using cake flour and whole eggs rather than bread flour creates a melt-in-the-mouth softness.
- Crafted at the Azabudai atelier: All canelés are made at the main Azabudai workshop, with strict quality control by skilled artisans.

The Signature Croissant Français — 2025 Grand Prix Winner
The Croissant Français is the brand's signature item, selling over 12,000 pieces per day in Paris. In July 2025, it received the top Grand Prix award at the Japan Food Selection.

Key features of the Croissant Français:
- Carefully selected ingredients: Uses fresh yeast, which requires skilled handling, with each croissant hand-shaped by experienced artisans. The rich aroma of French AOP-certified Montaigu butter fills every bite.
- 12-layer lamination: The dough is intentionally folded into exactly 12 layers to maximize the fragrance and flavor of the French AOP-fermented Montaigu butter.
- Textural contrast: The outside is light and flaky, while the inside is silky and moist—a hallmark of the house style.
- Artisan hand-forming: By using fresh yeast and shaping each piece by hand, the bakers achieve a refined, delicate layering that cannot be replicated by machines.
