Mametai Shoten Opens in Motosumiyoshi, Kanagawa on April 1 — Shizuoka Seafood, Oden, and the Signature Gottsu-age on the Menu

A new casual izakaya, Mametai Shoten Motosumiyoshi, opens on April 1, 2026, near Motosumiyoshi Station on the Tokyu Toyoko Line in Kawasaki, Kanagawa Prefecture. This is the third location in the Mametai Shoten brand.

A "Neighborhood Kitchen" Concept

Mametai Shoten positions itself as a "neighborhood kitchen" — a welcoming spot that locals can drop into any day, whether for an after-work drink or a meal with friends and family. The menu centers on fresh fish shipped directly from Shizuoka, local specialty dishes, and small plates priced mostly in the ¥100 to ¥300 range.

The name "mametai" (also "mametā") is a dialect word from the Izu region and other parts of Shizuoka Prefecture and western Japan, meaning "hardworking" or "attentive." It reflects the restaurant's aim to provide considerate, efficient service.
