A new izakaya called "Mametai Shoten" is set to open in Higashi-Mukojima, Sumida Ward, on May 21, 2026. This marks the brand's fifth location overall.
Unfussy, Unpretentious, and "Just Right"
Mametai Shoten is a casual pub-style izakaya built around fresh fish shipped directly from Shizuoka Prefecture and down-to-earth regional cuisine. Items start from ¥132 (tax included), making it an affordable spot for a quick drink after work or a casual bite between errands.
The name "mametai" comes from a word used primarily in the Izu region of Shizuoka, meaning "attentive," "hardworking," and "quick about things." That spirit extends beyond the food to the service and atmosphere — nothing excessive, nothing pretentious, just a comfortable, "just-right" kind of place.
The new Higashi-Mukojima branch sits a 2-minute walk from Higashi-Mukojima Station on the Tobu Skytree Line, tucked into a shopping street just outside the station.
Seafood from the Source
The parent company runs an integrated fisheries operation spanning harvesting, processing, distribution, and retail. Fish from the company's own bases in Numazu and Shimoda in Shizuoka Prefecture are shipped directly to the restaurant through an in-house distribution network — a setup that enables quality and variety at accessible price points.
Menu Highlights

Nikudofu — Beef and onion simmered until the umami-rich flavors meld together; a classic izakaya staple.

Gottsu-age Handmade Satsuma-age (Fish Cake) — Made from freshly caught fish ground into a paste and mixed with plenty of vegetables. The flavor shifts with each day's catch.

Shizuoka Oden — A local specialty beloved in Shizuoka since the Taisho era. Served in a deep, dashi-rich dark broth, the lineup includes daikon, boiled egg, konnyaku, chikuwa, and black hanpen fish cake.

Fried Chicken Skin Skewers — Crispy fried chicken skin glazed with a special house sauce — the kind of snack that's hard to stop ordering.
