The 牟佐大久保 (Musaokubo) Sunflower Field in Kita-ku, Okayama City, is nearing its peak season once again this summer. Situated about five minutes on foot from Makiyama Station — reached by crossing a submerged bridge — the field was established in the aftermath of the 2018 West Japan Torrential Rain Disaster with the aim of restoring flood-damaged farmland and revitalizing the local community. This year, young local farmers are organizing a two-day event timed to coincide with the sunflowers' full bloom.
JR West's Chugoku Head Office Okayama Branch has been introducing lesser-known gems of Okayama through its Furusato Okoshi (Rural Revitalization) Project, and the Musaokubo Sunflower Field is one of those featured spots. On the event days, sunflower decorations will be displayed at Makiyama Station's nameboard and embankment, and original gifts will be distributed to visitors who arrive by train.

Access and Notes
There is no car park at Makiyama Station, so visitors are encouraged to travel by JR train.
Please also note that IC cards (transit cards) are not accepted between Hokai-in and Tsuyama on the Tsuyama Line. Purchase a paper ticket before boarding.
