From Sunday, November 1 to Thursday, December 31, 2026, MY ONLY FRAGRANCE, a Kyoto-born specialty shop for bespoke fragrances, is running the seasonal "Common Fragrance Project -Winter Edition-" (共通香料プロジェクト -Winter Edition-) at 15 stores nationwide. Every store uses its standard fragrance "Shimmering Sugar" (シマリングシュガー) as the shared base fragrance for the project.
Shimmering Sugar is a vanilla-based fragrance in which cassis and pear blend richly, with a dessert-like sweetness. True to its name, "the temptation of glittering sugar" (煌めく砂糖の誘惑), the richness of fruit and the sweetness of vanilla layer together.
It offers the sweetness and warmth of winter, from November as the cold deepens through December as the city brightens up. The fact that it can express a wide range of looks when combined with different scents is also why it was chosen as this year's shared fragrance.
From Lingering Autumn to Deepening Winter: Two Months Linked by Shimmering Sugar
From November to December, the chill of winter gradually settles over streets that still carry the lingering feel of autumn, and illuminations and Christmas decorations mark the season's deepening.
Making use of the character of Shimmering Sugar, with its vanilla sweetness and the fruitiness of cassis and pear, the fragrance advisors at each store captured in scent the winter scenery and feelings they encounter in their own locales.
Light glowing in the cold air, tea savored in front of a fireplace, a quiet snowy night, time spent close to someone dear. Through the 15 fragrances born from the single Shimmering Sugar, visitors can enjoy the time of year as it moves from autumn into winter.
2026 Fragrance Trends and This Year's Shared Fragrance
The shared fragrance was chosen because it conveys the sweetness and warmth of winter and because combining it with various scents widens the range of expression. Starting from Shimmering Sugar, in which cassis and pear melt into vanilla, each store expresses a winter fragrance with its own sensibility.
Overseas, scents that express vanilla through varied combinations and deep fruit notes such as cassis have also been featured as 2026 fragrance trends, as in U.S. Vogue's "The Best Vanilla Perfumes Have Architecture and Attitude" (August 17, 2026) and U.S. Cosmopolitan's "Experts Say Fall 2026 Will Smell Like These Notes" (September 17, 2026). With such trends in mind, the project lets visitors enjoy the differences that arise depending on what is layered over the shared scent.

The "Common Fragrance Project" loosely connects MY ONLY FRAGRANCE stores through scent. By having stores across the country express the sensibilities and character of their own towns starting from one fragrance, the project lets visitors experience the appeal of scent, where "differences" arise from the "same" starting point.
This round's Shimmering Sugar is a fragrance in which the fruit notes of cassis and pear overlay vanilla sweetness. Depending on which part is brought out and what is layered on, different winter expressions arise from the shared scent.
Each fragrance was finished by the store's fragrance advisors based on the air of the local area and the conversations built up with customers. That is why, even with the same Shimmering Sugar (シマリングシュガー) as the theme, a different landscape and different feelings emerge at each store.
From autumn into winter, and on into the depths of winter, the limited fragrances available at MY ONLY FRAGRANCE stores around the country offer a way to enjoy the changing of the seasons.
