Nakajo Roadside Station's "Shokujidokoro Mamettai" to Offer Limited-Time Dinner Service in Nagano City

Nakajo Roadside Station in Nakajo, Nagano City, will begin limited-time dinner service from December 26, 2025 (Friday) to January 31, 2026 (Saturday). The station is operated by eternal story Co., Ltd. (Representative Director: Tatsuya Murakami). During this period, lunch and light meals only will be available on Wednesdays and Thursdays.

To address the "dinner refugee" challenge during the ski season and meet the dinner needs of winter tourists and local residents, special dinner-time menu items will be offered, including the local specialty dish "Obukko."

Providing an Accessible Dinner Option on Winter Evenings

In recent years, as inbound demand has increased during the ski season, the issue of "dinner refugees" (people unable to find a place to eat dinner) has become more serious in areas throughout the prefecture, including Hakuba Village.

Against the backdrop of insufficient restaurant capacity to keep pace with the increase in tourists and the short evening operating hours of many establishments, the demand for evening dining has remained high, especially during winter.

In response to this situation, Nakajo Roadside Station aims to become a new dinner option accessible to both tourists and local residents.

Through dinner service, the station also contributes to revitalizing the Nakajo area while promoting the local specialty dish "Obukko," which has been passed down in the region.

"Obukko": A Local Dish Long Beloved by Locals

"Obukko" is a local dish passed down in the Nakajo area of Nagano City.

It's a signature dish made with Shinshu miso as a base, filled with plenty of vegetables and chewy, thick flat noodles, all simmered together.

As you eat, you can add the accompanying "spicy miso" to taste, which enhances the spiciness and richness, allowing you to enjoy the changing flavors.

The name is said to come from the dialect "bukkumu," meaning "to throw in," as the dish is made by tossing noodles and vegetables into the pot one after another—a simple home-cooked meal that has been cherished since ancient times.

Nakajo Roadside Station also sells frozen products of this dish, making it easy to enjoy the authentic flavor at home.

Evening-Only Snacks and Warming Menu Items

The menu features popular warm dishes such as the local specialty "Obukko" and ramen. Additionally, dinner-time exclusive items include "Yaki Onigiri" (grilled rice balls) made with Shinshu miso (Nishiyama soybeans) and snacks that pair well with beer.

Take this opportunity to enjoy the offerings not only for dinner but also for family gatherings during the year-end and New Year holidays, or when you want to enjoy a light drink.
