From Friday, August 28 through Sunday, November 1, 2026, Namba Parks in Osaka is holding Namba Unkai for the first time — an experiential event that wraps its rooftop garden, Parks Garden (2nd to 8th floors), entirely in a sea of clouds. The event runs every day from 5:30 PM to 10:00 PM, and admission is free.
At the top and bottom of every hour, the cloud sea rises floor by floor, starting on the 2nd floor and moving up through the garden. Mist machines create the fog while lighting sets the scene, producing a fantastical cloud sea effect. The look changes with each floor climbed — clouds cascading down a staircase, clouds drifting across a terrace, and a vast sea of clouds spreading out at the top. Combined with lighting that differs from floor to floor, the garden changes its appearance many times over the course of a single night, creating a nighttime scene never seen before at Namba Parks. From 9:00 PM, every spot fills with cloud at once for the "Super Unkai Time."
Original lantern rentals are also available for the event. Each lantern carries the Namba Unkai logo, with an original pattern that glows softly at your feet.
Event Overview
- Event: Namba Unkai
- Dates: Friday, August 28 to Sunday, November 1, 2026
- Hours: 5:30 PM to 10:00 PM daily (cloud sea rises floor by floor on the hour and half-hour, starting at the 2nd-floor "Entrance Arch"; all spots erupt together from 9:00 PM in the "Super Unkai Time")

Highlight 1: A Six-Floor Cloud Sea Stroll, With Every Floor Showing a Different Character ("#UnkaiSanpo")
The walk from the 2nd-floor entrance up to the 8th floor is designed to be an experience in itself. The volume of cloud, the color of the light, and even the sounds you hear all change from floor to floor.

2nd floor, "Entrance Arch"

3rd floor, "Unkai Terrace"

4th floor, "Wood Deck"

5th floor, "Seseragi no Mori"

7th floor, "Red Canyon"

8th floor, "Green Stage"

Highlight 2: Every Spot Fills With Cloud at Once Each Night at 9:00 PM
Normally the cloud sea rises floor by floor from the bottom up, but at 9:00 PM every floor fills with cloud at the same time. It lasts only about three minutes, once a night, as the whole garden sinks into cloud together.
Look up or look down and all you see is cloud. Standing in the middle of a sea of clouds on any floor is the climax of Namba Unkai.
Highlight 3: Rent an "Oboro" Lantern to Light Your Way
Walk through the cloud sea carrying your own light. An original Namba Unkai lantern can be rented for a flat ¥500. Each lantern carries the Namba Unkai logo, and an original pattern glows softly at your feet. Strolling the garden by the hazy ("oboro") glow of a lantern diffused through the cloud makes for great photos and adds even more to a nighttime cloud sea walk.
- Rental period: Friday, August 28 to Sunday, November 1, 2026
- Rental fee: ¥500 (tax included) per lantern
- Pickup location: Namba Parks 2nd floor Information Counter
- Reservations: Advance reservation required via the website
Details on rental hours and the application process will be posted on the official website once finalized. Lantern quantities are limited, so reserve in advance before visiting. Rentals may be suspended without notice in the event of rain or severe weather.

Highlight 4: Cloud Sea by Daylight for Two Days Only — "Family Day" (September 22 and 23)
For two days only during the autumn holiday period — Tuesday, September 22 and Wednesday, September 23, 2026, both national holidays — the cloud sea, normally visible only at night, also appears during the day. In the bright daytime hours, even small children can explore the garden safely and at a relaxed pace. Families are invited to experience the surprise and wonder of the cloud sea together.
- Dates: Tuesday, September 22 and Wednesday, September 23, 2026
- Cloud sea hours: 11:00 AM to 10:00 PM, rising floor by floor from the 2nd floor on the hour and half-hour. A "Super Unkai Time," when every spot fills with cloud at once, is held at 2:00 PM and again at 9:00 PM.
Details are current as of publication and are subject to change. Check the Namba Unkai official site for the latest information.
