NEW FUKUI is a project that brings together companies and artists who create products for contemporary living, rooted in Fukui's traditional crafts such as Echizen lacquerware, Sabae wood carving, and Echizen washi paper.
Since 2017, this event has been held continuously at Tokyo's Matsuya Ginza, with makers themselves standing at the sales floor and valuing direct dialogue with visitors.
With the concept of "conveying and delivering Fukui's future craftsmanship," the project is working to create new value through collaboration across different industries and fields.

Exhibition and Sales Highlights
The venue will feature exhibitions and sales by the following five exhibitors.
Urushi no Komaya (Kintsugi and Lacquerware / Sabae)
Kiyoyuki Yabushita, a kintsugi artisan based in Fukui and Tokyo, will sell wiped lacquer vessels with a focus on mouthfeel and accept kintsugi orders. In fact, he has a background working for a famous local sake brewery. These are carefully crafted pieces that reflect Yabushita's expertise in sake.
Sawada Haruka (Artist / Sabae)
A new collection of paintings born from living in both Hokkaido and Fukui will be displayed and sold. She created numerous works while interacting with craftspeople she met in Fukui Prefecture.
MIO SUZUKI (Woodcarving Artist / Sabae)
Characterized by gentle white wood carvings using domestic cypress and gofun (white pigment). New works from the popular polar bear series will also appear. She usually creates architectural carvings for shrines and temples, ranma (transom panels), and Buddhist statues. In fact, she was also involved in the restoration of Shuri Castle in Okinawa Prefecture.
Maru Maison (Leather Goods / Echizen)
A leather goods brand created by Maruichi Seiling Co., Ltd., a sofa manufacturer in Echizen City famous in the furniture industry. High-quality leather sofas require large cowhides without wrinkles or scratches. This is a series of leather goods made from oil-finished leather that utilizes materials that would otherwise go unused due to minor scratches.
Nakaarae Michiko (Decorative Painting Artist / Sakai City, Mikuni)
After graduating from Kyoto University of Traditional Crafts, she studied under master Hōzan Inaba. She then studied Kutani ware painting techniques under Chōza Yamamoto in Ishikawa Prefecture. While based on traditional patterns, the motifs are painted cutely, creating gorgeous vessels that are easy to use in daily life.
