NEW LIGHT POTTERY Exhibition "When Craft Becomes Light" Coming to CIBONE Omotesando

NEW LIGHT POTTERY, a Japanese lighting brand based in Nara, is holding a pop-up exhibition titled When Craft Becomes Light at CIBONE in Omotesando from Saturday, March 28 to Sunday, April 12, 2026.

Founded in 2015 by lighting designers Hiroyuki Nagatomi and Chizu Nara, NEW LIGHT POTTERY operates under the philosophy that great lighting creates space and the atmosphere within it. The brand prioritizes handcrafted production, working with carefully selected Japanese materials and artisans who carry on long-standing regional craft traditions. Their products — made exclusively from high-quality materials such as brass, glass, and ceramics — are recognized both domestically and internationally for their minimal, refined aesthetics that draw out the beauty of each material and the light itself.

The exhibition centers on the brand's commitment to craftsmanship since its founding. Two monitors will display footage of the production process, giving visitors a closer look at the philosophy and background behind each product.

On the opening day, Saturday, March 28, designers Hiroyuki Nagatomi and Chizu Nara will be present in the store to offer personalized lighting advice to those considering a purchase.

  • 11:00 AM to 12:00 PM
  • 2:00 PM to 5:00 PM
  • 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM

Reservations for the lighting consultation service are available in advance.

Como (black-dyed finish is a CIBONE exclusive)

The lineup includes popular staple products alongside new pieces announced in February 2026, as well as a CIBONE-exclusive version of the new model "Como." Como is a washi paper floor stand inspired by Japan's traditional deep sedge hats (fukakasa), characterized by the texture of handmade Japanese paper made with fibers from kozo (paper mulberry) and a modern form. The CIBONE-exclusive version is a collaboration with Kaminosuki Kihatano, a studio based in Ayabe City, Kyoto, finished in a black-dyed treatment and available in limited quantities.
