The "OM SYSTEM" imaging brand from OM Digital Solutions is releasing a new standard zoom lens for the Micro Four Thirds System, the M.ZUIKO DIGITAL 14-42mm F3.5-5.6 III (equivalent to 28-84mm in 35mm format), in late October 2026. Despite its compact, lightweight build, the lens pushes close-up shooting beyond half-macro to a maximum magnification of 0.53x (35mm-equivalent), making it suited to a wide range of scenes. It also adopts IPX1-rated (*1) splash resistance and a dust-conscious design, so it can be paired with dust- and splash-resistant OM SYSTEM cameras for worry-free shooting even as the weather changes.

A standard zoom lens that combines a compact, lightweight body with excellent optical performance
This new standard zoom lens uses an 8-element, 7-group construction and covers a 14-42mm focal length range (28-84mm equivalent in 35mm format), spanning wide-angle to short telephoto. Three aspherical lens elements minimize aberration for excellent image quality, and a multi-coating applied to every lens surface ensures clear rendering. A circular aperture is used to produce natural-looking bokeh. The lens also retracts for greater portability when stored, extending and retracting simply by turning the zoom ring for smooth shooting.

Close-up shooting with a maximum magnification of 0.53x (35mm-equivalent) and a minimum focusing distance of 0.13m (at 14mm)
The lens enables close-up shooting at a maximum magnification of 0.53x (35mm-equivalent) and a minimum focusing distance of 0.13m (at 14mm), allowing the subject to be approached to within about 4cm of the front of the lens.
It also supports OM SYSTEM's "Computational Photography" feature Focus Stacking, which lets photographers capture a subject in full focus even in close-up shots where depth of field would otherwise be shallow.
Strong environmental resistance from IPX1-rated (*1) splash resistance and a dust-conscious design
Thanks to its dust and splash resistance, the lens can be used with confidence in the rain or in environments where it may be splashed with water. It can be carried without worrying about equipment damage even in sudden rain, opening up shooting opportunities unique to wet weather.
