Design

This model is inspired by karesansui (枯山水), a dry landscape garden style that symbolizes Japanese culture. Refined colorways that evoke sand and stones express traditional Japanese beauty in a modern, urban way.

The base model, the Cloudmonster 1 WP, is the waterproof version of On's bestselling Cloudmonster. It is known for a bouncy ride from On's proprietary CloudTec® cushioning system and for strong grip, while its waterproof treatment keeps feet dry.

Visual Concept

The stills and movie for the collaboration were shot by photographer Taro Mizutani (水谷太郎). Based on the idea of "mitate" (見立て), the karesansui way of making viewers imagine water in a space with none, the visuals focus on the curves and circles hidden in everyday Tokyo to express the world of the Cloudmonster 1 WP atmos.

By combining the abstract expression of karesansui with the many shapes found in Tokyo's urban spaces, the visuals bring together tradition and the present, nature and the city.

atmoscon 2026

"atmoscon 2026" will be held from Saturday, October 31 to Sunday, November 1, 2026 at Sankaku Hiroba (三角広場) in the Shinjuku Sumitomo Building. The event will feature a special space where visitors can experience the world of the Cloudmonster 1 WP atmos.

The space reinterprets karesansui in a modern, urban way and includes a "Samon Machine" (砂紋マシン), a sand-ripple machine whose sand pattern changes according to the frequency of the sound entered on a trackpad. Visitors can enjoy an interactive experience in which the look of the rock garden shifts with the sound and the movement of the sand.

Visitors who try the experience will receive an original bandana.
