Picasso Cafe in Shibuya Reopens as PICASSO RAMEN on June 6, 2026

The Cafe/Ramen Picasso Cafe on Dogenzaka in Shibuya is set to reopen as PICASSO RAMEN (ピカソラーメン) on Saturday, June 6, 2026. The updated concept brings a sharper ramen focus while adding music and alcohol to the mix, creating a new dining experience built around the combination of "RAMEN × MUSIC × ALCOHOL."

RAMEN × MUSIC × ALCOHOL

Since its opening, the cafe had already been drawing praise from customers for its ramen. That positive response led to the decision to rebrand the space with a stronger ramen identity. The relaxed cafe atmosphere regulars have come to enjoy will remain, now complemented by music programming and an alcohol menu. The ramen itself will be produced by Jinrui Mina Menrui (人類みな麺類), the acclaimed Osaka-based shoyu ramen specialist.

About PICASSO RAMEN

PICASSO RAMEN is a ramen and cafe space where "inspire art" — artwork taking its cues from the works of Pablo Picasso — lines the walls, meeting the craftsmanship of Jinrui Mina Menrui, a restaurant known for drawing lines of more than 50 people on weekends. Guests can enjoy authentic ramen surrounded by art that draws its essence from the master painter's iconic works.

The ramen is served in a custom-made mug cup-style bowl adorned with Picasso-inspired art — a nod to the cafe's coffee origins. The presentation gives each bowl a stylish, coffee-like quality. Coffee is also available, served in the same Picasso-inspired signature mugs.

About Pablo Picasso

Pablo Picasso (1881–1973) was a Spanish artist born in Málaga and one of the most influential figures in 20th-century art. Known as a co-founder of Cubism, he produced approximately 13,500 paintings, 100,000 prints, 34,000 illustrations, and 300 sculptures and ceramics over his lifetime. His innovations in artistic expression continue to have a profound impact on contemporary art.

Jinrui Mina Menrui (人類みな麺類) first opened in Nishinakajima, Osaka, on April 12, 2012. It has since become one of the city's most well-known ramen destinations, regularly drawing queues of more than 50 people on weekends. The restaurant specializes in shoyu ramen, using house-made noodles blended with whole wheat flour, paired with fall-apart braised thick chashu and generous menma. The brand has been featured on YouTube as a representative Osaka ramen institution.

Jinrui Mina Menrui Ingredients in Space

In November 2023, ingredients from Ramen Genten (らーめん原点) were launched aboard SpaceX's Falcon 9 rocket from Kennedy Space Center in what was billed as the world's first attempt at exposing food ingredients to open space. To prevent rupturing from pressure changes, the ingredients were processed into powder form and placed on the exterior of the International Space Station (ISS), approximately 400 km above Earth, at a speed of around 7.9 km per second. Over roughly 10 months, they were exposed to intense cosmic rays and ultraviolet radiation. After returning to Earth in December 2024, the opened samples were found to have retained their characteristic ramen aroma — providing valuable data on the potential of food in the space age.
