On Saturday, October 10, 2026, a special outdoor screening of Ryuichi Sakamoto | Opus, a concert film capturing Ryuichi Sakamoto's last piano solo performance, will be held at the Central Plaza of Komazawa Olympic Park in Tokyo. It will be the first outdoor screening of the film in Tokyo, and admission is free.
OUTDOOR THEATER JAPAN, which plans and produces outdoor film events, is cooperating on the event.
The film has previously been screened outdoors twice at Umekita Park in Grand Green Osaka. About 5,000 people attended the first screening in September 2025, and about 7,000 attended the second in May 2026.
Listening to Ryuichi Sakamoto Under the Autumn Night Sky

The venue is the Central Plaza of Komazawa Olympic Park. After the sun sets, a screen will appear in the park, and Sakamoto's piano will echo quietly across the plaza under the autumn night sky.
Unlike watching a film in the darkness of a cinema, an outdoor screening lets viewers experience the film together with the wind, the air and the night sky. In a park where visitors can feel nature and the sky even in the middle of the city, they can watch Sakamoto on screen and listen to each note of the piano. It is a one-night-only film experience.
Ryuichi Sakamoto | Opus, Capturing His Last Piano Solo

Ryuichi Sakamoto | Opus is a concert film recorded over eight days in September 2022, six months before Sakamoto's death. It consists of 20 pieces chosen by Sakamoto himself, including "Merry Christmas Mr. Lawrence", tracks from his last original album 12, and a piano solo arrangement of YMO's "Tong Poo". The film feels like a journey through his musical life.
On screen, Sakamoto faces a grand piano in a space with no audience and plays one note at a time. This time, the performance can be experienced not in a cinema but in Komazawa Park, surrounded by a wide sky and the night air.
Komazawa Park Becomes a One-Night Cinema

OUTDOOR THEATER JAPAN has produced outdoor films and drive-in theaters in many places across Japan. The appeal of outdoor film goes beyond simply watching a movie outside. Parks, plazas and streetscapes that are not normally cinemas become special places for one night once a screen goes up.
Through film, people gather and discover new sides of a place. At Komazawa Olympic Park, a public space that represents Tokyo, the event offers a film experience that can only happen here, together with Ryuichi Sakamoto | Opus.
Pop-Ups, Merchandise and Food Booths From the Daytime
Pop-up shops, merchandise and food booths are scheduled to open from the daytime on the day of the screening. Visitors can enjoy the screening, which starts at 5:30 PM, while spending time in Komazawa Park as dusk turns to night. Admission to the screening is free.
