Sakaba Yamatoshiki Opens in Shibuya on June 18, Offering an All-Around Izakaya for Every Generation

A new izakaya concept, Sakaba Yamatoshiki (酒場 やまと式), is set to open its first location in Shibuya on June 18, 2026 (Thursday). Just a 5-minute walk from Shibuya Station, the restaurant aims to bring back the all-around izakaya experience at accessible prices.

An All-Around Izakaya in the Age of Specialists

As the restaurant industry continues to shift toward specialized concepts, Sakaba Yamatoshiki takes a deliberate step in the opposite direction — one that celebrates having "everything you could want" under one roof.

The concept emerged from a desire to present "a general izakaya that works for every generation." While the operator's existing brand "Tsumugido" has carved its own niche, Yamatoshiki positions itself as a more inclusive destination — somewhere parents and younger guests alike can comfortably drop in together in Shibuya.

Three Signature Dishes

The menu is anchored by three standout items:

Chochin Tsukune Yakitori — ¥299
A grilled chicken tsukune (meatball) paired with "kinkan" — the precious pre-formed egg yolk found inside a hen — charcoal-grilled together. The result is a rich, savory mouthful with the aromatic char of the grill.

Toro Taku Ohagi — ¥980
A rolled sushi (ate-maki) featuring negitoro made with bluefin tuna nakaochi, offering a balance of umami and fatty richness. The kitchen highlights this as one of their most confident offerings.

Super Tender Bone-In Stewed Pork (1 piece) — ¥299
Drawing on know-how developed through the Tsumugido brand's stewed dishes, the pork is slow-cooked until the meat falls off the bone. Served with a house-blended yuzu kosho for a fresh, lingering finish.

Beyond the three signatures, the menu spans 12 types of ate-maki rolls, 11 types of yakitori, and 17 quick-serve dishes, along with closing courses including a large fatty horumon motsu nabe (offal hot pot, ¥1,680) and thick-noodle yakisoba (¥780). Other highlights include:

  • Cold tofu with green chili soy sauce — ¥290
  • Soft-boiled egg potato salad — ¥480
  • Chilled agedashi with wheat gluten and eggplant — ¥480
  • House-marinated karaage (5 pcs) — ¥580
  • Daikon karaage — ¥580
  • Premium white chicken liver sashimi — ¥780
  • House-broth simmered gyoza (6 pcs) with white and green chili oil — ¥580
  • Engawa with yuzu kosho (ate-maki) — ¥580
  • "Gout Roll" (ate-maki) — ¥780
  • Castella tempura — ¥480

All prices are tax-exclusive.
