Sakura Deai-kan at Yodogawa River Park, in Yawata City, Kyoto Prefecture, is holding a three-day Train Festival from Monday, September 21 through Wednesday, September 23, 2026. The event brings together a range of train-themed activities for visitors to enjoy to the fullest.

N Gauge Model Railway Meet

A massive model railway layout will be set up at Sakura Deai-kan, giving visitors an up-close view of N gauge model trains in action.

*Visitors may not bring their own N gauge train cars.

Ride-and-Drive Experience

Ride-and-drive experience with an onboard camera

Using a car fitted with a small camera at the front, participants can enjoy operating a train while watching the view on a monitor.

A special prize for completing the quiz rally

Quizzes about Sakura Deai-kan and the Keihan Railway are posted inside the building and in the surrounding area (four questions in total). Everyone who answers all four correctly receives a special prize (while supplies last).

How to Participate

Quiz sheets are available at the information corner and in front of the staff room at Sakura Deai-kan — feel free to pick one up. Answer the questions posted on signs inside the building and in the surrounding area, then bring your completed sheet to the staff room.

Mini Train Rides

Special run of a mini train built by high school students

Students from Kyoto Prefectural Tanabe High School, in Kyotanabe City, will give a special run of the mini train they built, in the plaza in front of Sakura Deai-kan.

Build Your Own Train! Freight Train Craft Workshop (advance reservation required)

Freight train craft workshop

Paint it your favorite color, add drawings or patterns — build a train that's uniquely yours.

Play With Toy Trains

Children playing with toy trains

Toy trains are a favorite with kids everywhere. Sakura Deai-kan is setting up a corner where visitors can freely play with toy trains donated by families who no longer use them at home, giving old toys a second life through the event.
