A popular cafe in Kyoto's Arashiyama district has undergone a renewal. "Bamboo Forest Crepe Cafe Season's" (located at 4-1 Saga-Tenryuji Imahorimachi, Ukyo-ku, Kyoto), operated by Krona Co., Ltd., has reopened on October 10 as "Charcoal Crepe & Acai Bowl Kyoto Arashiyama Season's."

Charcoal Crepe Series and Acai Bowl Series

The crepe series features charcoal kneaded into the batter, themed around mineral intake. As signature items, four seasonal crepes have been introduced: "Night Cherry Strawberry," "Fireworks Strawberry Banana," "Sweet Potato Brûlée," and "Snowy Kinkaku Chocolate," each representing a different season. In addition, "Sugar Butter" and fruit series are also available, all made with charcoal batter.

Furthermore, the renewal introduces acai bowls. These bowls focus on polyphenol intake and are made with house-made paste manufactured in-store. The same paste is used for acai smoothies as well.

Product Features

The charcoal used in the crepes is inspired by the iconic bamboo forest of Arashiyama, one of Kyoto's most famous tourist destinations. The product successfully minimizes the characteristic gritty texture of charcoal while maintaining a chewy texture and preserving the crepe's flavor.

This "Charcoal Crepe Series" comes in fruit variations including strawberries and bananas, as well as four seasonal crepes themed around the four seasons. Among these, the Night Cherry Strawberry Crepe received particularly positive feedback during pre-launch testing and has been confidently added to the menu.

The acai bowls were created in response to requests from local residents for a place where they can easily enjoy healthy foods and fruits. With the philosophy of providing delicious and healthy options, the bowls are manufactured in-house. The recipe was developed by blending multiple fruits and pursuing the perfect ratio to preserve the rich acai components while allowing customers to enjoy a variety of fruit flavors in a delicious way.
