Shangri-La Tokyo (located in Marunouchi, Chiyoda-ku, Tokyo) is hosting a special one-night-only wine dinner at Piacere, its Italian restaurant on the 28th floor, in collaboration with Kisvin Winery, a Yamanashi-based producer known for world-class wines.
This marks the first special wine dinner since Piacere reopened two autumns ago. Shangri-La Tokyo and Kisvin Winery have nurtured a relationship spanning 12 years — beginning in 2014, just one year after the winery's founding — making this collaboration a meaningful occasion built on a long-standing connection.
The dinner's concept centers on local provenance: seasonal ingredients from Yamanashi, including trout raised at the foot of Mount Fuji and mountain vegetables, are paired with Kisvin wines to bring out the distinctive character and depth of each bottle. As spring transitions into early summer, the fresh quality of these wines is said to shine at its brightest — a key reason behind choosing the pre-Golden Week period for the event.
On the evening of the dinner, the tapas area of Piacere will be specially decorated to evoke the atmosphere of a Yamanashi winery. Guests will begin with sparkling wine and amuse-bouches while having the opportunity to meet and converse with Yasuhiro Ogihara, the grape grower and president of Kisvin Winery. Dinner will then be served in an open-kitchen-style area, where guests can watch the chef put the finishing touches on each dish, adding a lively immediacy to the dining experience.
During the four-course dinner, Mr. Ogihara is expected to visit each table to share insights into Kisvin's winemaking philosophy, grape cultivation practices, and the winery's journey — offering an unusually intimate exchange with one of Japan's most celebrated vintners.
