Shimoda Prince Hotel (Location: 1547-1 Shirahama, Shimoda City, Shizuoka Prefecture; General Manager: Toshito Shirai) is launching a limited-time accommodation plan from April 1 (Wednesday) to June 30 (Tuesday), 2026. Inspired by Earth Day, this ocean-friendly dog-friendly morning experience allows guests to participate in beach cleanup activities while staying at the hotel. Earth Day, known as a day to think and act on environmental issues, falls on April 22. This accommodation plan enables guests to walk with their dogs along the beautiful Shirahama Coast and participate in beach cleanup by collecting washed-up debris. The hotel provides tongs for trash pickup, gloves, and garbage bags, so guests can participate empty-handed. After the beach cleanup experience, guests can enjoy breakfast with their dogs on the "Ocean Front Terrace," a terrace with panoramic ocean views. This is a unique spring-limited dog-friendly travel proposal from Shimoda Prince Hotel, combining tourism enjoyment with nature contact and environmentally-friendly actions.
Background of Implementation
The Shirahama area in Shimoda City, where Shimoda Prince Hotel is located, has been blessed with beautiful coastlines and rich nature, loved by many tourists. However, drifted garbage can be seen on the coast regardless of the season, and the importance of efforts to protect the natural environment has been increasing. In response to this situation, Shimoda Prince Hotel has been conducting regular beach cleanup activities by hotel staff since 2021, working on preserving the local natural environment. From the desire to widely share these efforts with customers, the hotel planned a beach cleanup experience combined with dog walking. From April to June in Shimoda, the average temperature is about 19.3°C, making it a pleasant and particularly suitable season for walks among the year. The hotel aims to provide an accommodation experience that naturally leads to ocean-friendly actions while enjoying it without strain.

Beach Cleanup
This is an experience where guests pick up washed-up garbage (such as plastic bottles and plastic trash) while taking a morning walk with their dogs along the seaside. No special preparation or knowledge is required, and because it's a short-time, voluntary participation format, even first-time dog owners can participate easily. Hotel staff selected colorful equipment for trash pickup, such as tongs and gloves, that make guests feel cheerful. The equipment will be delivered to guest rooms after check-in.

Breakfast on Ocean Front Terrace & Dog Treat Time
After the beach cleanup experience, it's breakfast time on the "Ocean Front Terrace," a terrace where guests can enjoy panoramic ocean views. Guests can take out breakfast prepared at the hotel's café "Two Tails' café" according to their desired time and eat together with their dogs. Dogs are also provided treats to match their owners' breakfast time.

*There is a charge of ¥3,300 (including consumption tax) per dog.
