Starting November 21, 2025, the winter illumination event "Omachi Heart Fantasy" will illuminate Aoi Square and Aoba Symbol Road.
In addition to this event, the city offers various evening attractions throughout the year, including the "Nihondaira Night View" (certified as a Japan Night View Heritage site), "Sumpu Castle Park Illumination," and the "Shimizu Port Ferris Wheel." As winter brings clearer air that enhances nightscape views, Shizuoka's evenings will be adorned with even more vibrant illuminations and special events.

Aoba Symbol Road Illumination "Omachi Heart Fantasy"
As the city's largest winter illumination event, this spectacular display transforms the entire park spanning approximately 500 meters from north to south. The tree-lined pathway comes alive with illuminated trees and various decorative objects. Key features include the "Heart Arch" at Aoi Square, the "Wall Illumination Tree" at Shizuoka City Hall Building, and the "Aoba Symbol Road Illumination," creating a dazzling corridor of light art. The lighting ceremony on November 21 marks the beginning, with various events scheduled throughout the period.
Sumpu Castle Park Illumination
Lighting Schedule: Daily, 15 minutes after sunset to 12:00 AM (midnight)

Adjacent to Aoba Symbol Road, two yokocho (alleyways) face each other across the street: "Aoba Oden Street" and "Aoba Yokocho." These dining alleys attract both locals and tourists seeking local specialties, particularly "Shizuoka Oden," a historic local delicacy. "Aoba Oden Street" features a photogenic atmosphere with uniform red lanterns and decorations from entrance to back. "Aoba Yokocho" maintains a nostalgic ambiance with dimmer lighting, evoking a deep sense of history and retro charm. After enjoying the visual spectacle, visitors can immerse themselves in Shizuoka's evening atmosphere through taste and aroma.
