Six Senses Spa Kyoto Invites Visiting Practitioners for Advanced Wellness Experiences This Fall

Six Senses Spa Kyoto, located within the nature-inspired luxury resort Six Senses Kyoto, is now taking reservations for special visiting practitioner sessions starting October 1, 2026. The sessions, previously offered at Six Senses properties and other hotels and spas around the world — including in Italy, the Maldives, and Thailand — will now be available in Kyoto.

What Is a Visiting Practitioner?

Six Senses, a pioneer of wellness and sustainability in the hospitality industry, runs a Visiting Practitioner (VP) program that regularly invites specialists from around the world to its properties, offering guests cutting-edge, holistic wellness. Following Six Senses' standards, these practitioners bring advanced expertise and hospitality to both hotel guests and local residents alike.

Govinda Chiesa: An Italian Healer Bridging Body and Mind

Govinda Chiesa

From October 1, Six Senses Spa Kyoto will offer integrative bodywork sessions led by Govinda Chiesa, who draws on a broad range of disciplines including osteopathy and biosomatics.

Born into a family of healers in Italy, Govinda practices multidisciplinary bodywork and somatic healing. Through years of experience, he has developed his own method that bridges traditional wisdom and modern techniques. Drawing on a deep understanding of the relationship between body and emotion, he helps guests reconnect with themselves by restoring that balance, listening closely to the body's subtle signals while integrating approaches from osteopathy, Ortho-Bionomy, and trigger point therapy.

Each session is tailored to the individual guest, going beyond a typical spa treatment to become a journey of engaging with one's own body and deepening inner awareness.

Govinda Chiesa bodywork session

Period: October 1 (Thursday) to November 4 (Wednesday), 2026

Menu & Pricing:

Mitsudomoe Resonance Touch (60 min) ¥41,000 / (90 min) ¥53,000

An intuitive bodywork method developed by Govinda that encourages a deep dialogue between body and mind. It combines oil treatment, expansive mobilization, and awareness of subtle movement to support full-body release, using the body's own rhythm to build awareness and guide guests toward a comfortable state.

Ethnic Osteopathy (60 min) ¥41,000 / (90 min) ¥53,000

Ethnic & Tribal Osteopathy blends ancient healing wisdom with the principles of modern osteopathy, focusing mainly on the Tendino-Muscular Meridians. It works on energy flow and fascial patterns to release deep tension and restore balance.

Posture and Biosomatics (60 min) ¥41,000 / (90 min) ¥53,000

Postural Biosomatics, refined by Govinda, works with the body's natural reflexes and movement awareness to guide it toward an antalgic (pain-avoiding) posture. It explores individual postural patterns to identify areas of tension, drawing on Taoist principles to support natural alignment and emotional processing.

Bone & Psyche (60 min) ¥41,000

Bone & Psyche focuses on the relationship between posture and emotion, exploring how unresolved feelings can manifest in the body. Incorporating subtle movement, breathwork, and Zen wisdom, it nurtures somatic release and inner balance, supporting time spent turning inward and reconnecting with the link between body and emotion.

Yukako Ogasawara: WATSU and Zen Aquatics From Japan's Aquatic Bodywork Pioneer

Yukako Ogasawara

With a background in aromatherapy, Ogasawara has devoted her career to exploring well-being through water-based therapy since first encountering WATSU at Harbin Hot Springs in the United States in 2004. She served as a Visiting Practitioner offering WATSU at Six Senses Spa Kyoto last year as well, and the sessions were well received by both international and Japanese guests, prompting a return engagement in Kyoto this year.

She studied under prominent instructors including WATSU founder Harold Dull, and is a certified WATSU and Waterdance practitioner through WABA. She co-founded the Okinawa WATSU Center and is recognized as a pioneer of aquatic bodywork in Japan. In recent years, she has also incorporated onsen thermal therapy and longevity research inspired by Okinawa's Blue Zone into her sessions.

Period: November 6 (Friday) to 23 (Monday), 2026

Menu & Pricing:

WATSU 60 min ¥41,000 / 90 min ¥55,000

Supported while floating in warm water, guests are guided through gentle touch and movement that bring awareness to bodily sensation and slowly stretch the body — a relaxation experience that releases both gravity and thought.

Onsen Thermal Therapy 60 min ¥35,000

Based on ancient wisdom passed down by shamans of Okinawa's Blue Zone, this restorative therapy uses steam from towels soaked in onsen water to stimulate the body's meridians, awakening a sense of vitality and leaving both body and mind warm and light.

WATSU & Onsen Thermal Therapy 120 min ¥71,000

WATSU guides guests into deep relaxation by floating in warm water and moving the body slowly, while Onsen Thermal Therapy is designed to activate energy. Combining the two offers a sense of release not found elsewhere, leading to a lighter, refreshed self.
