Taiwan Xiaochi Shop Opens at Little World in Inuyama, Aichi

Little World Museum of Man (Inuyama City, Aichi Prefecture; Director: Kohei Ikai) will completely renovate the Taiwanese dining shop "Taiwan Shokan" in the Taiwan area and reopen it as "Taiwan Xiaochi Shop" on March 14, 2026 (Saturday).

"Xiaochi" refers to simple, quick dishes that are popular at Taiwanese restaurants and food stalls, and is truly synonymous with Taiwan's food culture.

This renovation renews both the shop design and menu to recreate the vibrant atmosphere of a "Taiwanese street stall."

The shop's design incorporates "Feng Shui," a traditional Taiwanese custom, with red and yellow as the base colors, which are considered auspicious. Additionally, the dimensions of various sections reference the "Lu Ban ruler," a scale used to determine good and bad fortune, with some measurements reflecting auspicious dimensions to create a shop with good luck. Other details, such as traditional patterns of Taiwan's indigenous peoples featured on the upper part of the building, reflect a commitment to Taiwanese culture down to the finest details.

The menu has also been renewed to feature "Xiaochi" such as "Pepper Cake," "Hong Shao Niu Rou Noodles," "Lu Rou Fan," and "Douhua," which are staples of Taiwanese street food. The shop provides an immersive experience as if visitors have wandered into a Taiwanese night market, offering authentic Taiwanese cuisine.

*Details about the menu will be announced in mid-February.
