Nikon Imaging Japan, a subsidiary of Nikon Corporation, opens the THE GALLERY Exhibition featuring photographer Takeshi Fukazawa's "Cherry Blossoms" at the photography exhibition venue "THE GALLERY" at Nikon Plaza Tokyo and Osaka, starting March 3, 2026.

Artist's Statement
Cherry blossoms bloom faithfully every year. From Hokkaido to Okinawa, I have continued my travels while admiring cherry blossoms. The cherry blossoms rooted in each region are beautiful and seem to harmonize well with the landscape. I feel strength from wild cherry blossoms, such as the Ezo mountain cherry blossoms blooming in Hokkaido's pastures, the Okuchouji cherry blossoms blooming in the Tohoku region after snow melts, and the mountain cherry blossoms coloring Yakushima's forests.
On the other hand, cultivated varieties such as "Fugenzo" and "Mikurumagaeshi" are cherry blossoms that have been passed down through human hands. There are 10 species of wild cherry blossoms native to Japan, but it is said that hundreds of cultivated varieties have been created through the cross-pollination of wild species.
These are distinctive cherry blossoms with their own history and origins, such as the Kikuzaki varieties with hundreds of petals, the fragrant Nioizakura, and "Ukon" and "Gyoiko" with green petals. The more you know, the more their charm increases.
