Tateshina Tokyu Hotel (Chino City, Nagano), owned by Tokyu Land Corporation and operated by Tokyu Resorts & Stay, is completing the first phase of a renovation to its cottage building, and from August 20, 2026 (Thursday) it will begin operating a new "Pet Welcome Cottage." The hotel is located within Tokyu Resort Town Tateshina.
Beyond simply allowing guests to bring their dogs along, the aim is a comfortable resort stay where dogs feel genuinely welcomed throughout.
About the "Pet Welcome Cottage"
Of the 20 free-standing cottages at Tateshina Tokyu Hotel, a classic resort hotel with more than 40 years of history located within Tokyu Resort Town Tateshina, 10 have now been renovated into Pet Welcome Cottages.
While preserving the hotel's classic character, the interiors have been unified in natural tones for a modern atmosphere. Each is a private space where families can relax together with their dogs, both physically and mentally, and a range of pet amenities is provided so guests can travel comfortably without needing to pack extra supplies.

Guest-Only Dog Run and Walking Areas
A dog run reserved exclusively for cottage guests, covering roughly 220 square meters, has also opened in the cottage building. Surrounding trees shade the run even in midsummer, helping limit how much dogs tire in the heat. (A separate dog run on the hotel grounds, divided into areas for large and small dogs, is also available.)
Beyond the dog run, Tokyu Resort Town Tateshina offers many quiet, nature-filled spots where guests can walk with their dogs, from a refreshing morning stroll along the pond to a trekking course leading to a lookout point with open views.
Dining With Your Dog
Guests can enjoy lunch and afternoon tea with their dogs on the lounge terrace or at the hot dog cafe, and dinner together at the barbecue area in the evening.
Dogs can also drink the local Tateshina water with peace of mind. Nurtured by the conservation of the area's vast larch forests, Tateshina's water contains about one-sixth the chlorine added to water in Nagano City, and it is soft water (hardness 14 mg/L, pH 7.4) with a mellow, smooth taste suitable even for baby food.

A new Pet Friendly page has been added to Tateshina Tokyu Hotel's official website, introducing spots around the Town where guests can spend time with their dogs, including walking courses and activity areas. Event information for pet owners is also planned for the page going forward, alongside the official Instagram account.
