About MT. DESERT ISLAND ICE CREAM

MDI ICE CREAM is a craft ice cream brand founded in 2005 by Linda Parker on Mount Desert Island, in the state of Maine, USA, an area rich in nature.

Founded on Parker's wish to "make the ice cream I really want to eat," the brand quickly built a following and became known as a standout ice cream shop, earning a spot among America's "Top 25 Ice Cream Parlors."

In 2010, former U.S. President Barack Obama and his family visited the shop while vacationing on the island, and images of the president himself enjoying a coconut-flavored ice cream drew wide media attention.

In 2019, founder Linda Parker opened the brand's first Japan store in Matsumoto, Nagano Prefecture, a city where she once lived. The brand now operates stores in Matsumoto and Azumino, developing flavors and a production system built around ingredients from Nagano Prefecture.

The ice cream is made in the Philadelphia style, with a high milk-fat content that gives it a rich body and a clean finish. Most flavors are made without eggs, letting the taste and aroma of the ingredients themselves stand out. The brand also avoids artificial colorings and other additives, reflecting its commitment to using genuine ingredients.

*Most flavors are made without eggs as a rule, though a few products are exceptions.

*Cookies, crumbles, sauces, and similar components are generally handmade in-house, though some products use ready-made ingredients.
