Two new sweets shops are opening at Time Out Market Osaka this November. Kitashinchi Célébrité (北新地セレブリテ) is a patisserie that shows off French pastry technique and creativity, while Dojima KITAGAWA (堂島 KITAGAWA) combines Japanese ingredients with Western techniques and sensibilities. The month also brings a monthly limited menu from a chef who has led Spanish cuisine in the Kansai region, and an event pairing the market's signature dishes with craft beer.
Two New Sweets Shops Open in November
The two shops each have a distinct character. They add more options for everyday treats, gifts, and desserts after a meal.
Kitashinchi Célébrité (Patisserie)
Opens November 10 (Tue)
Célébrité (セレブリテ), a patisserie with shops in Kitashinchi, Osaka, and Gion, Kyoto, is coming to Time Out Market Osaka. The shop is led by pastry chef Murakami (村上 貴), who studied pastry making at the renowned Ritz Escoffier in France and at Lenôtre in Paris, and who has also won awards at international culinary competitions. Alongside cakes and baked sweets that draw on Chef Murakami's technique and creativity, the shop also serves tartines and a lunch menu. From delicate French pastries to full meals, it is suited to everyday moments, gifts, and parties.

Dojima KITAGAWA (Matcha and Sweets)
Opens November 16 (Mon)
Dojima KITAGAWA is a new brand built on the concept of "wakon yosai" (和魂洋才), which values Japanese tradition while taking in Western techniques and sensibilities. It uses the sweet red bean paste from Fukujudo Hidenobu (福壽堂秀信), a long-established Japanese confectionery shop in Tezukayama, Osaka, and Uji matcha from Ujien (宇治園), a long-established Japanese tea specialty shop. Under the supervision of Chef Seiichiro Nishizono, the brand explores the appeal of new-style Japanese sweets.
The lineup includes the "Uji Matcha Brûlée," which carries the rich flavor and aroma of Uji matcha, and the "Uji Matcha Parfait," which highlights the natural flavors of Uji matcha and chunky sweet red bean paste. The items are suited to enjoying in the shop or taking home as gifts.

Le Chef du Mois: Chef Konishi of El Poniente

"Le Chef du Mois" is a monthly program supervised by Yasushi Karato (唐渡泰), executive chef of Lumière Group (リュミエールグループ) and a leading French chef who advocates the "gastronomy of vegetables." Each month, a chef representing Japan is invited to create a special one-plate dish just for this location, served in a limited quantity of 100 plates per day.
In November, the guest is Chef Konishi (小西由企夫) of "El Poniente" (エル・ポニエンテ), who has led Spanish cuisine in the Kansai region. The menu of "GOZO," the Spanish bar he once ran, returns for one month only. The plate features nine tapas that reflect the food culture of different parts of Spain, along with other dishes rooted in traditional Spanish cooking.

A Message from Chef Konishi of El Poniente
We are bringing back, for one month only, the menu of the Spanish bar "GOZO," which used to operate in Kitahama. Alongside familiar dishes such as the Spanish omelet and Russian-style potato salad, we have prepared nine tapas that reflect the character of different regions, such as Catalonia and the Basque Country. We are also serving Madrid-style garlic soup and "flamenquín," a traditional dish of the Andalusia region made by layering pork, ham, and cheese and frying them. We have made these dishes faithful to the flavors you would find in Spain, and I would love for both those who remember the old shop fondly and those who are trying it for the first time to enjoy them.
Chef Konishi (小西由企夫), Owner-Chef of "El Poniente"
After graduating from Nihon Chori Gijutsu Senmon Gakko (日本調理技術専門学校), Chef Konishi went to Spain and trained at the restaurant "Casablanca" in Madrid. In 1998, he opened "El Poniente" independently. Since then, he has shared the appeal of Spanish cuisine through a variety of formats, including "GOZO," Japan's first Spanish bar. In 2023 he was selected as a "Contemporary Master Craftsman" (現代の名工), and in 2026 he was appointed a Basque Country Ambassador, continuing his work to spread and develop Spanish cuisine. In 2026, he also received the Medal with Yellow Ribbon (黄綬褒章).
