Time Out Market Osaka — a food market curated through the perspective of global city media "Time Out," which has been spotlighting the best of over 350 cities worldwide for more than 55 years — is entering a new chapter starting May 2026, with a wave of new restaurants set to open at Grand Front Osaka.
New Restaurants Opening from May 2026
On May 1, "Tenme" (天命) opens as a new dining concept bringing together "Jinrui Mina Menrui" (人類みな麺類), a popular ramen restaurant from Nishi-Nakajima in Osaka, and sake sommelier Keita Akahoshi. The defining feature of the ramen is a broth made with only water and soy sauce — no dashi stock — a method said to draw out the full depth and complexity of soy sauce's umami. Akahoshi was so struck by this approach that he became a creative partner in the venture. The experience is further elevated through a sake pairing program curated by Akahoshi, with varying sake styles matched to each bowl to transform the meal into a multi-layered tasting experience.
In early June, "Khun Tep" (クンテープ), a long-established Thai restaurant widely beloved in Osaka, will join the market. At Time Out Market Osaka, the restaurant will serve a rotating daily set-style lunch, designed to fit naturally into the routines of office workers and regular visitors alike. Popular mango sweets and Thai drinks from the main location are also expected to be available.
Additional stalls are currently in preparation for openings through the summer, with further details to be announced in upcoming updates.

A Market Built on the Principle of Change
General Manager Takuya Nishina has described the philosophy underpinning Time Out Market Osaka: "Time Out Market Osaka is not a finished commercial facility — it is a media that keeps editing itself. Over the past year, every restaurant that has passed through here has helped build this market. Their challenges made the next ones possible. We hold the same respect for those that have graduated as we do for those we are about to welcome."
He added: "Trends in a city change definitively within a year. New talent emerges, reputations are updated, and the flow of people shifts. That dynamism is what makes a city compelling. The one-year contract unit exists to keep pace with the city's speed — delivering the best dish of right now to the guests of right now. That is the promise of Time Out Market, and our responsibility as a media that keeps editing."
The approach reflects a deliberate decision to treat the market as an ongoing editorial project rather than a static dining destination, where both long-loved flavors and newly recognized talents can coexist in forms suited to the current moment in Osaka.

Food and Culture Under One Roof
Time Out Market Osaka regularly hosts live stage events featuring local artists and DJs, alongside family-friendly participatory programs on Sundays. Under a single roof, dishes from acclaimed chefs sit alongside everyday staples like ramen and udon, with the goal of offering visitors a tangible experience of Osaka's current food and cultural scene. The space is designed to feel different on each visit, as food, music, people, and time continue to mix and evolve.
