A new flavor of Tirol Choco — the beloved Japanese bite-sized chocolate — is arriving in stores across Japan on April 6, 2026. The "Namagomochi Tenku Matcha" (生もち天空抹茶) features "Tenku Matcha" (Sky Matcha), sourced from mountain tea gardens in Shizuoka Prefecture, combined with a soft, chewy mochi filling.

Product Features
The key ingredient is first-flush tea (一番茶), which is known for its fresh fragrance, natural sweetness, and rich umami. Using this premium tea as the source of the matcha gives the chocolate a deeper, more nuanced flavor compared to standard matcha products.
The chocolate itself layers two complementary components: a Tenku Matcha chocolate with a balanced bitterness and a rich cream-flavored chocolate. Both the chocolate and the sauce inside contain Tenku Matcha, allowing the full aroma and depth of the tea to come through.

The chewy mochi (生もち) filling adds a satisfying texture that pairs well with the matcha and cream layers. The packaging takes a Japanese aesthetic approach with elegant gold accents for a premium look.
About Tenku Matcha
"Tenku Matcha®" (天空の抹茶) is a registered trademark of Oyanagitsu Seiichi Shoten Co., Ltd. The matcha comes from shaded tea cultivation (被覆栽培), where the tea leaves are grown without direct sunlight for a set period. This traditional method, combined with the naturally rich environment of Shizuoka's mountain regions, produces a tea that balances umami, sweetness, and a pleasant bitterness.
