Ikeda Town Grape and Wine Research Institute (Director: Kuniharu Minami), which produces TOKACHI WINE, launched "Sachiiro Akanohitotoki," a sweet red wine made from the town's original grape variety "Yamasachi," on February 12, 2026.

Yamasachi is a grape variety that TOKACHI WINE began developing in 1978. It was registered with the Ministry of Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries in 2006, and registered with the OIV (International Organisation of Vine and Wine) in 2020, making it a signature variety for TOKACHI WINE.
"Sachiiro Akanohitotoki," made from Yamasachi grapes, is crafted as a sweet wine so that even those who are not accustomed to drinking wine can enjoy Yamasachi.
The label design emphasizes a casual approach, conveying the message that "it's okay to enjoy wine more casually" as a reward wine for those who worked hard throughout the day.
This product offers a new side of Yamasachi that cannot be found elsewhere, so please give it a try.

About TOKACHI WINE from Ikeda Town, Hokkaido
Wine production under municipal management began in 1963, initiated by then-mayor Kinpo Marutani, making it the first of its kind in Japan.
Through pursuit of cultivation methods that thrive in Tokachi's cool climate, the facility developed cold-resistant grape varieties such as "Yamasachi."
The Wine Castle (officially named Ikeda Town Grape and Wine Research Institute), a symbol of Ikeda Town, was built in 1974 as a wine production facility and is still used for winemaking today. It came to be affectionately called "Wine Castle" because it resembles a medieval European castle.
