With another scorching summer on the way, The Westin Miyako Kyoto's all-day dining restaurant Raku (洛空) is returning with its popular annual "Summer Meat Fest Buffet" for July and August 2026. The buffet offers families and groups an opportunity to enjoy the cool comfort of the hotel dining space while working through a generous spread of meat dishes from around the world, alongside carefully prepared Japanese cuisine and seasonal sweets.

International Meat Dishes Reimagined with a Local Touch

A major draw of the buffet is the Raku chef's lineup of internationally inspired meat dishes, each given a distinctive interpretation. The menu includes spicy skewered kebabs of Middle Eastern origin, Brazilian Churrasco-style meats carved tableside from large spits (Sat/Sun/Holiday limited), and a pizza topped with Korean-style Bulgogi beef simmered in a sweet-savory sauce. American-style Buffalo Chicken Wings and Korean Yangnyeom Chicken coated in a gochujang-based sauce add a bold kick to the selection. Family-friendly showstoppers like a "Jumbo Hamburger Manga Meat Style" and "Merry-Go-Round Sausages" round out the fun. Classic European fare such as slow-roasted beef and Boeuf Bourguignon also features on the lineup.
A Refined Japanese Menu, Unique to Raku

What sets Raku apart from a typical buffet is the quality of its Japanese offerings alongside the meat-focused lineup. The buffet features freshly prepared nigiri sushi using fish sourced directly from fishing ports — sea bream, tuna, salmon, amberjack, red shrimp, simmered conger eel, and salmon roe (dinner and Sat/Sun/Holiday limited). In July, seasonal Kyoto flavors include a hamo (pike conger) and simmered eel chirashi sushi on weekdays, a chilled white ark shell and Kujo green onion teppai salad, and a fresh tofu skin and cream cheese chawanmushi with mentaiko (lunch only). Dinner options in July include a Japanese-style Korean gimbap roll and braised beef tendon with konnyaku. In August, the Japanese menu expands with eel okowa rice with sansho pepper, chilled corn chawanmushi, and a sukiyaki-style braised Japanese beef with Kyoto-style grilled tofu (dinner only).
Seasonal Sweets Corner

The dessert lineup matches the summer theme throughout. July's centerpiece is a Melon Shortcake, while August features a Peach Shortcake. Shaved ice — Mango in July and Strawberry in August — brings a summer festival feeling to the table. Additional options include an Açaí Bowl, Ananas à l'Orange, matcha warabi mochi, an Ice Paris-Brest, and Chocolate Banana, rounding out a selection with something for every age.
