The Westin Yokohama Hosts "The Westin Yokohama Wellness Day" on May 30

The Westin Yokohama, a lifestyle hotel in Yokohama's Minato Mirai district, will hold a special wellness event called "The Westin Yokohama Wellness Day" on Saturday, May 30. The event is designed around the brand's core concept of wellness, and this inaugural edition offers two distinct programs centered on the themes of nature, breath, sound, and water.

Two programs are available for the day:

① Minato Mirai Run & Tai Chi Session

The Westin Yokohama 5F Westin Garden

This morning wellness program begins with a short run around the hotel's surrounding area, followed by a tai chi lesson led by an instructor from Yokohama Chinatown, held in the hotel's garden. The session concludes with a recovery experience using the Hyperice device. The program combines movement, breathing, and recovery to offer a well-being experience unique to Westin.

Tai Chi Instructor: Daisuke Ichikizaki

Daisuke Ichikizaki

Daisuke Ichikizaki began practicing martial arts at age six, inspired by action stars Jet Li and Jackie Chan. He was selected for the junior national team at 14 and won the All-Japan Championship at 17, earning a place on the national team. Choosing to turn professional to push his limits and share the beauty of martial arts, he became a leading figure in Japanese wushu and tai chi. At the 2010 Guangzhou Asian Games, he became the first Japanese athlete to win a silver medal in the discipline. He also claimed a bronze at the 2014 Incheon Asian Games and a silver at the 2015 World Championships, in addition to nine All-Japan Championship titles. Today he is active across multiple fields, including stage performances and short films.

② Floating Sound Bath Session

Participants lie on floating mattresses in the hotel's indoor pool and experience the vibrations of crystal bowls resonating through their whole body in this immersive wellness program. Under the guidance of instructor MAYU, the session incorporates breathing techniques and gentle meditation. The calm movement of the water's surface combined with the clear tones of the crystal bowls guides participants into deep relaxation.

MAYU

MAYU is the founder of maitri garden and a wellness event producer. She holds an MBSR program certificate, JMPO-certified Mindfulness Beginner Instructor qualification, Yoga Alliance RYT200 (Maui, Hawaii), and an MBA from Globis University Graduate School. Since 2021, she has been conducting meditation live-streams on Instagram, with a cumulative total of over 1,400 sessions and approximately 30,000 total participants (as of September 2025). After five years working in a TV broadcaster's events division and then at a wellness venture promoting mindfulness through entertainment, a personal experience of burnout led her to focus on creating mindfulness events that bring peace and fulfillment to mind and body. She has organized meditation and crystal bowl events at luxury hotels in Osaka and at select Starbucks locations in Osaka.


The Westin Yokohama is located in Yokohama's Minato Mirai district and is known for its comprehensive "Wellness Floor" spanning over 1,000 square meters, which includes an indoor pool, fitness studio, and a Heavenly Spa by Westin. The Westin Yokohama Wellness Day is planned as a multi-event series throughout the year, with this May 30 session being the first edition.
