To celebrate the opening of the Kano crab (加能ガニ) fishing season, a winter delicacy, the Yamashiro Crab Festival (やましろカニまつり) will once again be held in Yamashiro Onsen, part of the Kaga Onsen resort area, on Sunday, November 15, 2026.
The highlight is the sale of the festival's special crab soup. Rich in the umami of crab, the soup is served piping hot in Kutani ware bowls. It is limited to the first 600 servings, at ¥700 per bowl.

The festival also features a sale of fresh crab, crab dishes sold by local restaurants, and local sake and beer sold by the Yamashiro Onsen Sake Merchants' Association (山代温泉酒商組合).
