The "Sangenbutsu Pork Loin Saikyo-yaki and Agedashi Tofu Set Meal" is now on the menu at all 376 Yayoi-ken locations across Japan. The set meal, which launched on June 2, 2026, brings together a fragrant Saikyo miso-marinated pork loin and a side of agedashi tofu filled with seasonal vegetables.
To find out what makes the dish worth trying, Yayoi-ken surveyed store managers nationwide and asked them to choose their top two recommended highlights.
About the Set Meal
The Saikyo-yaki features Sangenbutsu pork loin marinated in Saikyo miso sourced from a long-established Kyoto producer, then grilled until aromatic. The miso's mild sweetness and refined depth bring out the natural umami of the tender pork, while the grilling process adds an appealing fragrance. A portion of fresh soy sauce koji is served alongside, offering a flavor change that keeps each bite interesting from start to finish.
The agedashi tofu side dish goes beyond plain tofu — it also includes eggplant, okra, and lotus root. Finished with mentsuyu dipping broth and grated daikon, the result is a light, refreshing side that holds up well even on warm days. The combination of meat, tofu, and vegetables makes for a well-rounded and satisfying meal.
A "Double Agedashi Tofu" version of the set is also available for those who want more of the tofu dish.
