Ariake Co., Ltd., based in Yokohama's Naka Ward, will launch the "Yokohama Moon Galette Tamakusu Matcha Latte" on Saturday, November 1, 2025. This product reimagines the Yokohama Moon Galette, which was created in 2020 by combining Japan's traditional celebratory food "mochi" with Western "galette," now featuring a chewy galette filled with matcha milk-flavored mochi paste.

Product Details
This confection represents a new texture in baked goods, merging the traditional Japanese "mochi" with Western "galette" for a distinctive chewy experience. The product uses "Banjō no Ao," an original matcha co-developed with Hōkōdō, combined with milk ganache made from Kanagawa Prefecture milk. This matcha milk mochi is then gently baked in galette dough. The result offers a harmonious blend of aromatic matcha and gentle sweetness in a latte-style flavor profile.
Yokohama Moon Galette Concept
The Yokohama Moon Galette is presented as a "wish confection" from Ariake, inspired by the "tamakusu tree" that has watched over Yokohama through changing times, connecting people's wishes and hopes, alongside the "moon" that illuminates all.
Yokohama served as a gateway to foreign cultures and symbolized the dawn of modern Japan through the opening of the country. The tamakusu tree, which witnessed this land's history, survived the Great Kanto Earthquake by sprouting new growth from its remaining roots, continuing to display its robust presence today.
The name "Ariake" itself means the moon at dawn. The moon has long been featured in myths, legends, and poetry throughout human history, serving as an essential presence that lights the way and sometimes acts as a beacon for the heart. The product is shaped after this moon that continues to shine upon us.
No matter how dark the night, dawn eventually comes. Like the tamakusu tree, this confection is created with wishes for a bright and strong future.
