After roughly 12 years serving coffee lovers across Japan, the Allpress Espresso Tokyo Roastery & Cafe in Kiyosumi-Shirakawa is closing in autumn 2026. The specialty coffee brand, which has been roasting and shipping beans to partner cafes nationwide since it opened its Tokyo outpost in 2014, will transfer its roasting and distribution operations to a new facility in Miyota, Nagano Prefecture.
The relocation has been announced as a necessary step toward long-term growth, with the new Nagano base also set to serve as a springboard for expanding into Asian markets.
New Roastery at MMoP, Miyota, Nagano

Located at the foot of Mt. Asama, Miyota is a town in Nagano that has been attracting attention both domestically and internationally for its blend of natural scenery and a thriving arts, photography, and food culture scene. The new Allpress Espresso roastery will be housed within MMoP (pronounced "Mopp"), a cultural complex at the center of the town.
MMoP has established itself as a hub where diverse visitors — drawn by photography, art, and the Miyota lifestyle — intersect. Its ethos of being an open, community-oriented space resonated strongly with Allpress Espresso's own values of fostering connections through coffee. The new roastery is expected to serve as both a production facility for specialty coffee bound for Japan and international markets, and a venue for events and open activities welcoming visitors and locals alike.

MMoP is described as a cultural complex set within a natural garden, home to a collection of independently run shops with their own lifestyle philosophies — including restaurants, craft and clothing boutiques, furniture stores, and garden shops. Each summer, the complex hosts the international art photography festival PHOTO MIYOTA.

Special Events at the Tokyo Roastery

In the lead-up to the closure, the Tokyo Roastery is planning a series of events to celebrate its history and thank everyone who has been part of it over the years. Expect moments where people can naturally connect over a cup of coffee, in a setting that is characteristic of this beloved space. Event details will be shared via the Allpress Espresso Japan Instagram account and email newsletter.
