Asahi Zero <Calorie Zero> Launches in Western Japan on October 14

Asahi Breweries is adding a new variant to its "Asahi Zero" brand of 0.00% alcohol, non-alcoholic beer-taste beverages: Asahi Zero , which has zero calories and 70% less carbohydrate. The new drink goes on early sale across Western Japan from October 14.

Like the original Asahi Zero, Asahi Zero uses a "de-alcoholization process" that brews a beer first and then completely removes the alcohol. By raising the fermentation level of the base beer, the drink retains the malt's flavor while cutting back on carbohydrates, achieving 0.00% alcohol, zero calories※1, and a 70% reduction in carbohydrates※2. It has a refreshing aftertaste, offering "beer-like deliciousness" to those who are mindful of calories and carbohydrates. The package builds on the Asahi Zero brand design, clearly communicating the product's features with the words "Calorie Zero" and "70% Less Carbohydrate," while a gold-based design expresses an authentic, beer-like taste.

Asahi Zero <Calorie Zero> six-pack

The "Asahi Zero" brand aims to be a non-alcoholic beer-taste beverage that people choose because they want to drink it, rather than as a reluctant substitute for beer. The mainstay Asahi Zero has built a broad following, particularly among beer lovers, and its cumulative sales passed 200 million cans※3 in July. With the addition of Asahi Zero to the lineup, the brand now caters to those who want to enjoy a beer-like taste while also being mindful of calories and carbohydrates.

Asahi Breweries promotes "Smart Drinking" — respecting a diversity of drinking styles — aiming for a society where drinkers and non-drinkers can respect one another. Through this product, the company hopes to further spread the idea of Smart Drinking.
