Event Purpose
This art festival has been running since March 2021 with two main pillars: "ATAMI ART RESIDENCE," an artist-in-residence program, and "ATAMI ART GRANT," a support system for artists. For the 5th edition in 2025, the festival will be primarily operated by citizens actually living in Atami, exploring the possibilities of value creation born from the strong connection between culture, art, and the local community, emphasizing depth and sustainability over scale.
The main venue will be Nonakayama Mansion, a resort condominium celebrating its 60th anniversary in Atami. By using a building where residents still live as a venue and placing artworks in living spaces rather than tourist routes, the festival aims to build a connection between local residents and culture and art.

In addition to the mansion, the festival will utilize vacant spaces in shops and mixed-use buildings in the city center, as well as Resopia Atami, a hotel along the coast, to communicate the multilayered charm of Atami as a city through art.

An information booth will be set up at Atami Sun Beach, with a limited-time shop collaborating with local creators to enliven the event.
The festival will also feature a photography exhibition "How to go" by photographers. Works by Japan's leading photographers will be displayed in vacant spaces in mixed-use buildings.

The event is positioned as "Round 0" with citizen leadership, and more collaborative initiatives with Atami City, residents, and visitors are planned for the coming years.
Statement from Event Director Naoshi Kondo
Atami is known as a tourist destination, but there are limited places for local residents to experience art and culture. An art festival creates exactly that opportunity. However, if the event doesn't continue for a long time, it won't function well. Above all, a foundation for continuation is necessary. That's why we're creating an art festival that local residents participate in as a "matsuri" (festival) and actively build together. I hope this becomes the path forward for ATAMI ART GRANT as it makes a new start.
Please look forward to a "matsuri" created with the cooperation of artists we've connected with in Atami and everyone active in Atami.
Key Visual
The key visual for "ATAMI ART GRANT 2025 supported by Pasona art now" uses an original font NFT "Nanae Mitobe Fonts V1" created by painter Nanae Mitobe, embodying an art festival created by artists. The visual will be used on festival merchandise planned for sale.

About Nanae Mitobe
Born in Kanagawa Prefecture, Nanae Mitobe is a painter currently based in Vienna and Japan. She graduated from Nagoya Zokei University in 2011 and studied under painter Shigeru Hasegawa. From 2022 to 2023, she studied at the Academy of Fine Arts Vienna on exchange and studied under Alastair Mackinven. In 2024, she graduated from Tokyo University of the Arts Graduate School, studying under painter Masato Kobayashi.
She boldly grabs oil paints from large cans to create paintings with heavy impasto. Initially, she created works featuring famous people and pop icons like Michael Jackson, but after a residency in the United States in 2014, she began creating the "DEPTH" series featuring highly abstract, anonymous faces. This series was presented at a solo exhibition at the Aichi Prefectural Museum of Art in 2016, and "I am a yellow" was acquired by the museum in 2020.
Her first collection "Rock is Dead" was published in 2022. Along with the "Rock Star" and "TIME" series, she recently presented the "Picture Diary" series, created during the pandemic from inspiration found in online news topics. She expresses the times in a bold and original style, sometimes pop, sometimes ironic, capturing society in real-time from a painter's perspective.
