Banyan Tree Higashiyama Kyoto, a flagship hotel of the Banyan Group set on a hilltop in Kyoto's Higashiyama district, has launched a new dinner stay plan centered around its latest dining venue, Ryozen Sen Bettei.

Ryozen Sen Bettei opened on March 26, 2026, on the hotel's third floor within Ryozen, the hotel's kappo restaurant. The dining experience is a collaboration between the hotel and Nihon Ryori Sen SEN — a Michelin one-star Japanese restaurant — led by its head chef, Ken Sugisawa.
A Special Dining Experience at a Limited Counter

Ryozen Sen Bettei offers seating at an exclusive 8-seat counter within the Ryozen restaurant space. Guests can enjoy an omakase course dinner starting at 6:30 PM (all guests are seated simultaneously), with the menu prepared directly by Chef Sugisawa.
Chef Ken Sugisawa trained at prestigious Kyoto establishments including Kikunoi and Muromachi Wakuden, and gained additional experience as a private chef in London. After returning to Japan in 2018, his restaurant received a Michelin star within six months of opening. His cooking draws on the seasonal ingredients and refined techniques of traditional Kyoto cuisine, combined with influences developed abroad.
At Ryozen Sen Bettei, the dining space reflects the atmosphere of Noh theater, and the counter setting allows guests to engage directly with Chef Sugisawa through conversation as he prepares each course.
