Blue Bottle Coffee is opening a new cafe, Blue Bottle Coffee Hakata Cafe, on the first floor of the Nishi-Nippon City Building in front of Hakata Station on Tuesday, July 21, 2026. It is the brand's second cafe in Kyushu, following the Fukuoka Tenjin Cafe that opened in February 2024.
The cafe is designed around the idea of connections that ripple outward from a single cup of coffee, bringing a new gathering place to the growing Hakata district. Guests can choose from a range of seating, including bench seats and table seats, to suit anything from a quiet solo coffee break to time spent with family and friends.
The menu spans specialty coffee brewed to order by baristas as well as non-coffee options such as a matcha latte and the seasonal Yuzu Lemonade Float. The food menu features Mentaiko Potato Toast, a Hakata Cafe premiere that uses bread from 奥添製パン, a bakery loved in Fukuoka. As a Hakata Cafe exclusive, the cafe also releases a Rattan Mug created in collaboration with the "TSUBAME" series by GLOCAL STANDARD PRODUCTS.
Hakata Cafe Design

The interior was designed by Tatsuya Nishinaga of TEKI DESIGN, who also designed the Blue Bottle Coffee Harajuku Cafe. Working from the concept of connections that spread from a single cup, he created a gently curved coffee counter as the centerpiece of the space — an image of a single drop of coffee falling and sending out ripples. The form takes inspiration from the streets of Fukuoka, which developed along the contours of the land. Seating wraps around the counter so guests can spend time as they like, with the sight of coffee being brewed at the center drawing people's gaze, movement, and time gently outward into a natural sense of unity.
The interior uses materials that reflect the craftsmanship rooted in Kyushu. Some tabletops are made of Imari ware from Saga Prefecture, and the walls incorporate 名尾手すき和紙, a traditional handmade washi paper also passed down in Saga, giving the space a sense of the region's culture and craft.
Hakata Cafe Drinks

Alongside specialty coffee brewed to order by baristas, the Hakata Cafe serves a variety of drinks based on a new iced espresso called Kyoto-Style Espresso, born from a "Cold by Design" approach.
Kyoto-Style Espresso
Kyoto-Style Espresso is a new iced espresso inspired by Kyoto's tradition of low-temperature water-drip brewing. Made with Blue Bottle Coffee's signature Hayes Valley Espresso blend and extracted slowly using time rather than heat, it achieves a smooth mouthfeel, natural sweetness, and clarity that were difficult to reach with conventional iced espresso drinks. With a chocolate-like depth of flavor and bright, stone-fruit-like aromas, it serves as the base for a range of drinks from the classic Iced Café Latte to Shakerato and seasonal offerings.
Kyoto-Style Espresso lineup:
- Cold Shaken Espresso — ¥700
- Espresso Tonic — ¥800
- Vanilla Bean Shakerato — ¥880
- Sweet Blossom Shakerato — ¥880
- Iced Sweet Blossom Latte — ¥850
- Sweet Blossom Latte with Cold Foam — ¥980
- Iced Café Latte — ¥690
- Iced Mocha — ¥781

Yuzu Lemonade Float — ¥831 (limited time)
Blue Bottle Coffee's yuzu lemonade layers the tartness and sweetness of lemon with the aroma and gentle bitterness of yuzu. For this summer-limited version, lemon sherbet from HiO ICE CREAM, a craft ice cream brand in Jiyugaoka, Tokyo, floats on top. The light refreshment of carbonation meeting the sherbet, the scent of fresh lemon, and the crisp, icy texture come together in a cooling drink well suited to the hot season and enjoyable for all ages.
Hakata Cafe Food
The food menu includes Mentaiko Potato Toast, making its debut at the Hakata Cafe, inspired by Hakata's food culture and given a Blue Bottle Coffee twist. A range of dishes to enjoy with coffee throughout the day is also available, from a pleasant morning start to relaxed time with friends and family or a quiet moment after work.

Mentaiko Potato Toast — ¥990 (Hakata Cafe premiere, supervised by 副島モウ)
This Hakata Cafe premiere uses bread from 奥添製パン, a bakery in Itoshima loved across Fukuoka. Rich mentaiko cheese cream made generously with mentaiko is paired with smooth mashed potato accented by the savory depth of kombu, for a flavor that is distinctly Blue Bottle Coffee. A finishing sprinkle of shichimi releases the gentle fragrance of sansho flower and dried citrus peel, whose fresh notes cut through the richness for a pleasant, lingering finish.

Brunch Plate — from ¥1,650
A satisfying, vegetable-rich one-plate meal for a fresh morning start or a relaxed lunch. Fresh salad, colorful grilled vegetables, avocado, onion, and a soft-boiled free-range egg are arranged on a single plate with ciabatta from 奥添製パン in Itoshima, Fukuoka. Choose between "Complet," served with grilled bacon, and the lighter, vegetable-focused "Vegetable." The seasonal hummus is mushroom hummus. It suits both a pre-work breakfast and a leisurely weekend brunch.

Waffle Plate Pineapple & Caramel Cream — ¥1,200 (limited time)
Freshly baked Liège waffles are layered with caramelized pineapple and topped with light caramel whipped cream. A garnish of mint adds a fresh touch of color and a sense of summer. The juicy sweetness of fresh pineapple, the toasty notes of caramelization, and the caramel flavor of the cream and sauce come together in a harmonious, rich taste. The sauce served on the side blends deep caramel with fruity passion fruit puree for a clean finish. Enjoy this waffle plate with an Iced Café Latte or cold brew for a refreshing summer pairing.
Hakata Cafe Exclusive Item

Rattan Mug — ¥5,280 (Hakata Cafe and official online store exclusive)
Inspired by the Hakata Cafe's interior design, where different materials come together in harmony, this special mug is available only at the Hakata Cafe and the official online store. It was created in collaboration with the "TSUBAME" series by GLOCAL STANDARD PRODUCTS. An enamel body — stainless steel made in Tsubame, Niigata Prefecture, coated with a glassy glaze — is combined with a handle wrapped in natural rattan, balancing inorganic beauty with organic warmth. Each piece is finished by hand, one at a time, by skilled artisans, so every mug has its own expression. Enamel resists odors and helps preserve the original aroma and flavor of drinks, while the rattan deepens in color and develops a richer texture with use. It fits into daily coffee time at home or the office as well as outdoor settings.
Capacity (filled to the brim): 380ml
