Background
Pizza Potato is a snack that recreates the taste of an authentic pizza by topping potato chips with cheese-flavored flakes and spicy pizza-flavored powder. Calbee's proprietary "Melt Flake Process," in which cheese-flavored flakes are placed on freshly fried, piping-hot potato chips and melted onto them, gives the chips a rich cheese taste. Since its launch in 1992, the cheese blend and packaging design have been updated to keep up with the times, and in 2024 the product was renewed as the 15th-generation Pizza Potato. Besides the standard Pizza Potato, many limited-time flavors have been released.
Pizza Potato Genovese Flavor was first test-marketed at some convenience stores in 2021, where it was well received by customers. In 2024, aiming for a richer taste more typical of Pizza Potato, the garlic and cheese flavors were strengthened, and it was released nationwide for a limited time. Because it was again well received, it is being released again this year. By combining a variety of ingredients, the flavor has been upgraded to taste even more authentic.
