Sustainable Guatemala Las Nubes Coffee with Chocolate-like Sweetness and Aroma Launches at Coffee Kan on January 13

Coffee Kan and Coffee Kan Kura, operated by C-United Co., Ltd. (Headquarters: Minato-ku, Tokyo; President and CEO: Yuki Tomonari), will launch the sustainable coffee "Guatemala Las Nubes" for a limited period starting January 13, 2026. Additionally, to commemorate "Jamaica Blue Mountain Coffee Day" on January 9, the chain will offer "Blue Mountain 100%" at a special price during the period from January 8 (Thursday) to January 12 (Monday).

CU Crew-Roasted Seasonal Limited Coffee

Coffee Kan sells high-quality, authentic coffee sourced from farms engaged in sustainable practices as "seasonal limited coffee" 3 to 4 times a year.

The new product is a special coffee carefully roasted by CU Crew (*1) at the company's in-house roasting facility on the first floor of headquarters, using "Guatemala Las Nubes" sourced from designated farms. As part of DE&I promotion, the company opened a roasting facility last year where CU Crew members work, handling everything from blending green coffee beans to roasting and product shipment. The initiative to incorporate employment of people with disabilities into the company's core business and provide coffee roasted by CU Crew members nationwide is unique to this company.

A Cup Recommended for Beginners with Little Habit or Bitterness and Smooth Taste

"Las Nubes" means "clouds" in Spanish. True to its name, it is cultivated in highlands at 1,300m to 1,800m altitude, in a region along the Pacific coast with high humidity where clouds frequently appear. It features a sweet and fragrant aroma reminiscent of chocolate and a smooth taste, with little habit or bitterness, allowing you to enjoy a gentle and pleasant aftertaste. It is a cup worthy of being an entry point to single-origin coffee.

The farm is also committed to sustainable practices, including proper use of pesticides and continuous monitoring and optimization of cultivation conditions. Furthermore, it designates forest areas as nature reserves and maintains facilities such as schools and hospitals within the farm. The farm operates sustainably while coexisting with wildlife and considering the local community.

Recommended Pairing Menu (Product Developer Comments)

"Guatemala Las Nubes" has a well-balanced flavor and pairs well with "Traditional Hotcakes with Whipped Cream" and "Apple Chiboust Cake," allowing you to enjoy harmony with sweetness and gentle flavors. With hotcakes, the fragrance of butter and wheat overlaps with the roast notes of the coffee, further enhancing the coffee's inherent gentle sweetness. With Chiboust cake, the coffee's smoothness envelops the gentle acidity and richness of each, refreshing the aftertaste.

Traditional Hotcakes with Whipped Cream - Nostalgic hotcakes baked one by one on a copper plate. You can enjoy a crispy outside and moist, fluffy inside texture.

Apple Chiboust Cake - Moist sponge layered with diced apples, custard, Chiboust mousse, and meringue. A luxurious taste that packs in the sweet and sour flavor of apples.

Blue Mountain 100% Also Available at Special Price

To commemorate this anniversary, during the period from January 8 (Thursday) to January 12 (Monday), 2026, "Blue Mountain 100%" will be offered at a special price of 100 yen off the tax-included price.

About Coffee Kan

Coffee Kan

Coffee Kan opened its first store in Kanda Jimbocho, Tokyo in 1970 as a pioneer coffee shop chain when individually managed coffee shops were mainstream. Since its founding, under the policy of "putting heart into every cup of coffee," the shop has provided authentic coffee by grinding coffee beans after receiving an order and carefully brewing each cup. Currently, 11 varieties are always available. The shop also puts effort into food menu items that match its specialty coffee, offering nostalgic "coffee shop" flavors such as "Traditional Hotcakes," which sells approximately 1.6 million servings annually (*1), Napolitan, and fruit milk mix.
