Daimaru Shinsaibashi Celebrates 300th Anniversary with "Spring Adult Lunch" - A Nostalgic Kids' Meal Reimagined for Grown-Ups

Daimaru Shinsaibashi store celebrates its 300th anniversary in 2026 with the "Spring Adult Lunch" event from March 6 (Friday) to March 31 (Tuesday). Since the late Meiji period, kimono shops transformed into modern department stores, offering Western-style buildings, display-case merchandising, and entertainment as "special occasion destinations" that proposed new lifestyles. During the Showa era, large dining halls and rooftop gardens where families could enjoy together became groundbreaking attractions that drew crowds. Daimaru Shinsaibashi once had a large dining hall that bustled with visitors. The iconic "Kids' Meal" menu is now reimagined as a special adult version. Featuring spring seasonal ingredients with desserts and drinks, these department store-exclusive sets satisfy the desire to try "a little bit of everything" with 13 menu options available. Enjoy the special look complete with 300th anniversary commemorative flags.

Daimaru Shinsaibashi History - "The Former Grand Dining Hall"

The Daimaru Block, whose exterior walls and interior elements continue to present day as "Vories architecture," was completed in 1933 (Showa 8). Opening in time with the widening of Midosuji Boulevard and the subway's debut, it has been beloved as a landmark of the greater Osaka era. The 7th floor of Daimaru Shinsaibashi at that time housed dining facilities that bustled with many visitors. The 7th floor featured large dining halls such as Japanese-style and Western-style dining rooms, as well as special dining rooms in private rooms suitable for family gatherings and small meetings. The Showa-era grand dining halls where families gathered. At today's Daimaru Shinsaibashi, the B2F "Shinsaibashi Food Hall" serves as the contemporary dining gathering place.
