What Is Acai Day?

Acai spread from its native Amazon across Brazil and then the world, thanks in part to Japanese emigrants who moved to the region and helped scale up its production. September 16 was registered as Acai Day in honor of their contribution, marking the day in 1929 when the first immigrant ship arrived at Belém, a city at the mouth of the Amazon River.
