EYEVAN has added two new models to its EYEVAN Tortoise collection, an eyewear line featuring genuine tortoiseshell material.
The history of tortoiseshell eyewear dates back to the Edo period. Even today, tortoiseshell is considered the finest eyewear material, thanks to its dignified color and luster, along with a luxurious texture that cannot be replicated by synthetic materials. The material comes from the hawksbill sea turtle's shell, which forms unique patterns and thickness through layered growth, much like tree rings. Skilled craftsmen carefully select, cut, and laminate the pieces to ensure the patterns and colors harmonize beautifully. This process requires advanced techniques and refined sensibility. Despite its deep luster and substantial appearance, tortoiseshell is lightweight and offers a comfortable fit that feels like it adheres to the skin. EYEVAN has been proposing this highly practical material as a fashionable everyday accessory.
The two new additions are based on EYEVAN's most popular classic models.
One is the 49 size version of "Webb," a timeless classic that has garnered unwavering support. Previously available only in 47 size, the model now offers a 49 size option. The moderately increased volume accommodates more face shapes and creates a size balance that is particularly appealing to male customers.
The other is "Avalon," featuring a Wellington-inspired design with a more prominent form than Webb. This design, already highly popular in the standard collection, exudes dignified sophistication through its commanding presence combined with the depth of tortoiseshell's expression. Both models combine stylish design with supreme comfort and develop deeper attachment through polishing and repairs over long-term use.
