Guests staying at the hotel the night before — on March 20 — are invited to take part in a morning program that combines a confectionery factory tour, strawberry picking, and a hands-on strawberry daifuku-making workshop.
About Kashin Tanitsune
Kashin Tanitsune is a long-established Japanese confectionery shop in the Tajima region of Hyogo Prefecture, founded in the first year of the Meiji era (1868). Over more than 150 years, the shop has carried on traditional artisan techniques while continuing to craft both classic and contemporary wagashi.
Among its most celebrated creations is the signature sweet "Ayu no Sasayaki," which received the highest honor — the Honorary President's Award — at the 23rd National Confectionery Grand Exhibition. The shop has also had the distinction of presenting its jonamagashi (fresh wagashi) "Kakitsubata" to the Emperor and Empress of Japan.
Event Overview
The event begins with a guided factory tour at Kashin Tanitsune, where participants can learn about the shop's history and its commitment to carefully selected ingredients. Following the tour, guests move to the shop's on-site strawberry greenhouse to pick freshly ripened strawberries of the season.
Using the strawberries they've just harvested, participants then try their hand at making strawberry daifuku under the direct guidance of experienced artisans. The finished daifuku can be enjoyed on the spot, and a visit to the shop's retail store is also included.
